Hi Everyone

I am five days pre surgery and only 6 kilos down which is about 13 pound so mostly my clothes are fitting much the same with a few less elastic marks.

My wardrobe is already full to the brim of clothes I don't wear but keep because larger sizes are not easy to come by.

Should I bite the bullet and have a pre surgery clean out. Has anyone done that as part of there cleanse. I keep thinking that I will only need my most comfortable clothes for a while anyway.

What I think I am saying is will I really need 8 pairs of size 24 jeans going forward. I have all these tunic and smock get ups for my own Job that I would never wear if I had other options. Maybe I have answered my own questions.

I would love to hear anyone else's stories on what they did to get wardrobe ready. The most risky thing I did was buy a pair of pajama pants two sizes too small as they are super stretchy and pretty.

Looking forward to your stories.

Chelle

I waited to clear out my closet until my clothes were falling off of me. I think this is something that each person needs to decide for themselves. Would it be motivating to have fewer clothes in the closet? It took longer than I expected for those original sizes to become so big that I couldn't really wear them. Good luck on your surgery!

I did a clean up. I kept only the basics. The last time I lost a lot of weight (gained it all back) I didn't do a clean up and felt it was ok to have them to fall back on. New you new start. I feel like I'm a newborn. My surgery is mid April and I've lost 25 pounds already on my own. Can't wait for the surgery. Purging is good for the soul!! Screw size 24!!! You'll be buying 10's soon enough! Good luck

Get rid of your big summer clothes now. There's no way you're going to need the larger size warm-weather stuff. I put all that in the attic before surgery, which was great fun! By six weeks post op you'll be doing another major cleaning, and I kept a donation bin in my closet from that point on. Donated 17 BAGS to salvation army last week. Awesome! I've been haunting thrift shops for tops, sweaters and jackets for several months now. My true shopping cravings have been satiated with shoes, accessories and lingerie. Fun! I'm a doctor and I keep getting compliments on my Goodwill clothes! I just try to hit Goodwill in other communities so I don't accidentally wear my patient's old clothes during their exams!

My psychologist recommended we clean out once things start getting baggy to free us of old baggage. I loved that idea so this weekend it is purge, purge, purge!

Ok, to be honest I did a pre clean. I had a lot of clothing. I got it down to the essentials now. Less to wash and care for. I can walk in my closet and easily find an outfit to wear. It felt good to do it.

I think I may do a pre-clean out of bigger thing's ive kept over the year's.

But a lot of what I own is from year's back that fit at one point and now no longer, I still have jeans from High School!

(Graduated 2008) But the day I start fitting back into those suckers is the day I'm going to lose it!..Most are 15/16s, But still last time I fit those numbers was 2008.

Well I did do the preclean but it seams to be constant. I think yay I can get in that and it just doesnt fit right. It is a cleansing feeling. I am looking forward to being able to fit into NON plus size clothing. I am in the 16-18 plus size now, can wait for the 16-18 in the non plus size section.

i have done a light pre-clean and will continue to up until surgery. my surgery is June 23 so i have focused on getting rid of my really big winter stuff. by the time it's winter again and i need them i figure i should be at LEAST 40-50 lbs lighter.

also i have been digging out all of my old scrubs (nurse) and washing them and getting them ready to wear again when i can. sadly i have all sizes from 10-16. once i hit 18 and up i only bought three pairs of scrub pants and some long sleeved t-shirts i have been alternating with them for the past 3-4 years! gonna burn those, they're not even worthy of donating!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
