Wearing Jeans after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Question, at my work , everyone typically wears jeans to work everyday because we are either in the office or on construction sites. My question is this....how long was it before you wore jeans comfortably again? Do regular jeans (not mom jeans or super low rise) hit incision sites?? I know everyone will be a little different, but Im just curious if anyone had experience with this? I think I can get away with wearing dresses if I have to and my boss would probably let me wear sweats if I wanted also, I just don't want to draw extra attention to myself if I can help it....thanks for any feedback!!

I wore jeans 2 weeks after surgery. They were looser than before surgery so they did not bother

me at all.

A friend of mine bought those soft stretchy 'pajama jeans' that look like denim but are soft and stretchy - almost like joga pants. She said they worked great for gong to work after surgery since there was no tight waistband or big button/zipper to cause pain as she moved. Also they were cheap enough to order a couple and just toss since she says she wore them nearly every day!

I wore jeans home from the hospital. It was cuz I forgot to bring sweats and we lived 3 hrs away so I had no choice. They were luckily really loose. After getting home, I remember wearing yoga pants and elastic waist skirts for a couple weeks. Mostly cuz I was bloated, nothing to do with incisions.

Good luck!

I wore sweats and pajama bottoms for the whole 2 weeks I was off work after surgery. The first two days, I was so bloated so there was no chance. I probably could have worn jeans after that, but I was too worried about messing up my incisions. The first time I wore jeans was my first day back to work and they felt fine, it didn't bother my incisions at all!

I wore elastic waist pants for almost 2 weeks. It wasn't because of the incisions... They never bothered me. But my jeans waistband put pressure on my already swollen, gassy belly, which was uncomfortable. My work partner was in the same situation after her lap hysterectomy a few weeks ago.

I'm 8 days post op and I'm already wearing. My jeans with a belt, because some of them are kinda loose. But everyone is different.

I didn't wear jeans for about 6 weeks. I tried them on a time or two. Not tight, but wasn't very comfortable when sitting. But I don't work either so I didn't have to dress for a job.

I wore jeans a week after surgery because I had a wedding I had to shoot. I had no problem with it rubbing on my incision marks at all. But some people are different from others. When I went back to work I did wear slacks and jeans. Now that I am four months out I wear jeans all the time. I love the way they feel on me since I am down 6 pant sizes.

Comfortably? A month for me personally. When my friend had hers I bought her pajama jeans and she LOVED them! I got them at Rite Aide and they can be gotten pretty much anywhere. They looked great on her and she was able to wear them to work and be comfortable. Was def worth the purchase. I go to a local support group for bariatric surgery, and as a pre op gift to people I am close to I get them a pair and they have all loved them and benifitted from them! Hope this helped :-)

9 days post op: I'm already wearing jeans. They do come up to my incisions but it doesn't bother me. I had on a snugger pair but switched to a looser pair for comfort.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
