Susan's Solemn Silliness

My you have lost weight... can I ask how much and how?

First of all Gaffer you are the man...I told TWLSC that you should be the western rep and get paid. They responded that they couldn't put you on the payroll but would give you credit to the plastic surgery center. I told them that you have already paid $16k for a breast reduction like I did. Maybe a rebate will be in the mail. I am looking forward to you leaving the 300 club

Anyway I had to go out to my first formal dinner on Sunday. Stuffy work chit with not one but two "plastic barbie self-proclaimed socialites" that only allow their husbands to talk when permission is given.

Well it took only 15 mins into the dinner of 14 people before Plastic Barbie 1 says very loud to me but for all to hear...."wow it looks like you finally lost some weight"..."how much and are is it because you are ill". Well of course everyone went silent cuz they were waiting for my verbal retort. I was gonna say "Portion Control" but my meek wife (1 glass of wine gone already) spoke up and said "its cuz we found new position for sex and we haven't been out of the bedroom in 2 weeks!" BOOM....I was floored...then she said..."maybe you and your hubby should try something different as the same old missionary style once a month doesn't seem to be working for your bitchy attitude".

THE WITCH IS DEAD... I swear to god I heard cheers over the laughter as the BEOITCHHH left the room. My wife got more drinks bought for her that night and congratulations.

She is my hero....plus mother of my 3 chitlins!!

I quickly ran home and read brochure on when it was safe to resume the bedroom life... 6 days and 4 hours to go. Maybe my prom tux will fit by then... then again... we have 3 kids, work, etc....

Sorry for the rambling but my wifes answer beat my Portion Control answer hands down or another part up.

Good luck

CanadianMacDaddy

BEST POST EVER.

Thanks for the props CanMac. I didnt pay for the breast reduction, instead I got the "enlargement" package, or was that "package enlargement"? :heh:

I am sure I could use the credit at TSWLC. Maybe a panni removal if AHC does not cover it, but my Dr. seems to think they would. I will call them about that today :biggrin1: . Maybe I will get one of those vulva reductions that every one is getting.:omg:

Give Mrs. CanMac a high five for me, and a glass of merlot. That is one of those sitiuations that you just wish you could have recorded. Maybe that will make that stuffy biotch think twice about cutting people down in front of a group of people. As the kids would say, she got pwned.

Susan: I have 3 kids with (one being 6 mths old and still on the boob) so it wasn't practicle to bring the family or even my wife. So the only way my wife (finance minister) would agree was if I stayed at a recovery house for a couple of nights. I went to TWLSC in Miss and stayed at the Heritage House for two nights...there was 5 others there over a two day period so pretty common. They were great as nurses on staff and really good staff plus less than the cost of a hotel room at $135/night.

After that I spent the next nights at a hotel as felt better. Regardless it would have been nice to have someone there but the setup with Heritage House and The Clinic it was great...they picked me up after surgery, got my medication for me, etc...

Good luck with your surgery

Thanks Mac - If you can do it alone from out of town, I can certainly brave it out mself for just a few hours! My hubby will pick me up later in the day and take me home - he also will stay at home with me the next day. I'll take the pacifier out of my mouth now....:violin:

I am so sick of eating or should I say OVEREATING! Nothing fits anymore and I am miserable. I am almost tempted to just start my preop diet! What's holding me back is that I still have 4 weeks to go and don't want to sabotage following it perfectly just before the surgery.

I can't seem to just eat like a normal person...maybe because I am not normal!!! :) If I were normal I would not be in this position....The funny thing is that I am not really enjoying my food right now either. Would anyone like some cheese with my w(h)ine???:drama:

I am darn lucky to be able to have this surgery! I should stop the moaning and groaning and be thankful that I will have this aid in just a few short weeks.

Okay..new resolve. Be grateful. Try to eat only when I am hungry. Enjoy what I am eating.

Sounds like you are ready. I too went through the Farewell tour, and it was a tough one. I gained 8 lbs in less than a month from eating donuts, donairs and anything else I could get my hands on.

I honestly think doing so helped me with the pre and post op as I was so sick of eating that I did not mind it. I am almost glad I did it.

Now you are ready, and you will really notice a difference when you start your pre-op diet.

Thanks Andrew - it's funny how we all see ourselves as so unique in our experiences ie. so alone. Not true at all is it! Thanks for your support.

HI: Going it alone may be a bit difficult if you have a distance to get back. When I came out of surgery, I was so groggy that I only remember a few things. One was my hubby had gone out and the clinic couldn't reach him. The nurse was about to take me back to the hotel in a cab when he arrived. So If you can have someone pick you up it would be better and more safe. Doddie

Susan, I'm going it alone too. I will be going to Dr. Cobourn's clinic alone in the morning for surgery but they have told me that I MUST have someone pick me up after surgery. I'm staying at Heritage House in Toronto so someone will pick me up and they have 24 hour nursing care.

I think it really depends on the individual with regards to recovery. I know you don't want to disrupt your child's schedule but do what your gut tells you that YOU need. Also, have a backup plan in place in case it doesn't all go as you expect.

MacDaddy - unlike Yoda I was drinking and reading - big mess to clean up!!! Although I'm not one for confrontations, I think sometimes they are very appropriate. I applaud your wife :clap2: . Hey... when the shoe fits...

I am so close now that I can almost taste that cottage cheese and yogurt! :hungry:

Today is grocery shopping day and this is the last week that I will NOT buy cottage cheese and yogurt so as to save those foods for the preop.

I committed to join a 4 week walking challenge at work starting Monday. Everyone wears a pedometer and has to walk 10K steps every day (not including treadmill). If you don't mnake your 10K you have to throw $1 into the pot. At the end of the 4 weeks whoever has the most steps will win the pot. Since My surgery is the 2nd I am sure to throw money in, but I thought it was a good way to get me up an moving even before the band.

What do you guys do to exercise?

Susan

Hi Susansilver: My exercise of choice is aquasizes. With my weight, joint injury has occurred over the years from exercising as a result, I am not to enamoured with exercise and motivation is my biggest problem. Who wants to do something that injures themselves. Just be careful when you use the treadmill. If you walk too fast, you stretch out your stride putting a lot of weight on your knees. My knee surgeon tells me that knee injuries are increasing as the "baby boomers" age and a lot of it is the result of improper exercise. Good luck in soon becoming one of us. Doddie

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
