Two weeks post and gained a pound

Recommended Posts

Sleeve surgery was two weeks ago today. I've lost a total of 17 lbs, but from yesterday to today I've gained a pound! I realize it's only one pound but this early on I had hoped never to see the scale go in the opposite direction!

I didn't weigh every day on other diets, but this one is different, this is a new lifestyle and very exciting!!!

Wondering how many early on weighed everyday? And if you don't/didn't how do you stay away from the scale? !?

Water weight!!! Do not freak out!! Your weight will fluctuate daily...You are losing inches and your body compensates by holding on to some water..Please don't weigh yourself every day..I know that is hard because we all want that weight to fly off but our bodies are adjusting (healing) from major surgery...Keep doing what you are doing and ignore the scales for a while..You can do this!!!

I'm 5.5 weeks out and only weigh once a week. I have lost weight every week. I think it is too easy to get upset by weight fluctuations when weighing daily.

I remember knowing I was losing weight when smaller clothes were fitting but the scale did not move. Definitely put the scale away and follow your plan. It will always cause you aggravation!!!!

Sadly, it's just part of the process. You will see small (2-3) pound gains here and there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
