Hey! I'm so happy to read that everyone is doing well!

Is anyone in the Kelowna BC area? I live here, but I had my surgery in Victoria with Dr Malik!

@@bigbattynatty that's awesome girl!!! How are you doing it? What are you eat?

Thank you! Following the program to a T...following portion size especially and not overdoing it. For my Protein, I mainly eat fish (Salmon or grouper), low sodium deli meat. I haven't had much bread as I found a weight watchers tortilla that I usually use. I still have a hard time with veggies even when they are steamed well, especially broccoli. Funny enough salads don't bother me. I mainly eat steamed spinach/kale as my vegetable source plus they are supposed to be good source of Iron. In terms of my liquids I mainly have Water, .1% milk or crystal light. Water is still hard for me to get in but it gets a lot better as the weeks go by.

I exercise maybe about 3x a week but I go to the gym on Saturdays for about 2hrs and take my time.

@@anewme2015 I think the entire team at TWH is amazing. I even sent the hospital ward a thank you card because the nurses there were professional, compassionate, caring and very competent. My only surgery complaint is that I never got to meet the doctor who actually did the operation. Kind of weird you know. "The phantom doctor." I did meet his assistant, Dr. Kim, who was really nice. But he must of done a super job because I've had no complications thus far and I pray it stays that way. My recovery was extremely uneventful except for the Constipation that still plagues me and that's not anyone's fault. It just is.

I went for orientation in Sept 2014 and had my surgery in January 2015.

@@Calgirl26 Well I'm just under 4 weeks post-op (boy that went by fast!) and I think I'm a slow loser. Following the program as per the instructions I've only lost 12 lbs. I hope it's because I've heard that if you start at a lower weight that you lose slower and not because I'm doing something wrong.

Funny though if I'd lost 12 lbs on WW or some other diet in less than 4 weeks I'd be doing cartwheels. I have to keep reminding myself of that. It's funny how you expect so much more from the surgery. Like to wake up each day and expect to see the scale go down a pound or two each time. Maybe some do but not me apparently. As long as it keeps steadily going down I should not complain. Everyone's weight loss journey is different.

By the way I loss 9 lbs before the surgery from my last nurse weigh-in right before I started Opti-fast.

@@RuthFour I spoke to the dietitian on Friday and she said 4-6 cups of any liquid I can fit in right now is fine. I'm just under 4 weeks post op. Tea, crystal light, broth whatever. No coffee or caffeined drinks though. So that was good to hear.

My Protein is on target everyday so she was happy to hear that. I feel better and less stressed aiming for 4 cups of "water" in any form. Plus she said I can drink prune juice and take Benefiber again to help with the Constipation. Yeah!

@@Calgirl26

I lost weight fairly quickly...I'm down over 50 lbs and my surgery was in October. I noticed though that you had gastric sleeve which differs from bypass. Not sure how much weight loss differs. It levels off after awhile and weight loss slows as your body aclimates.

Everyone is different as well. So as long as you're doing what they've asked and you're getting all your fluids and Protein in, I wouldn't worry.

12 lbs is AMAZING in one month. I don't think I've successfully lost that in a month on any diet (and I've done them all!). I think it's a trap to get into comparisons so focus on your truth- you're down 12 lbs of FAT that is NEVER coming back. And this surgery is helping you become (return to) the you that you truly are! 12 lbs is incredible. And it's only the beginning! ????????

In other news, I'm officially transferred to Toronto Western! Thanks for the advice and the push everyone. You have me the confidence to not accept those other ridiculous wait times and to advocate for myself and my health. You people rock.

The hubby and I made the difficult decision to move from NL, where the wait time is only (up to) 5 years, to NS, where the wait time is 10+ years. The move needs to happen for a variety of reasons, so logically I know it is the right decision, but boy, am I ever heart broken.

I'm not sure how MSI works in NS for bariatric surgery (even though I lived in NS almost all my life, I was never considering bariatric surgery while living there.). So, I've heard rumours that you can get the surgery in ON and it would be covered under MSI. I'll have to look into this after I am back in NS, which'll be later this spring.

Any suggestions from anybody? :/. I know most of you are in ON and west, but it can't hurt to ask!

@@anewme2015 Yeah! The staff at TWH is amazing. And remember you can always keep calling to see if there are any openings sooner than what you have scheduled. That's what I did. Otherwise I would have been looking at maybe an April or May surgery.

You're right! This is just the beginning I'm on the way to a new me =)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
