I am doing well so far. I have been dealing with some gas issues but aside from that things are welll. I am on puréed diet now. So trying to find things that sit well through trial an error. I guess the biggest challenge is figuring out when to stop

Eating before that pain sets in. Some foods I can eat the recommended amount and others not so much. I have only dumped once and it was not a happy moment. Overall, I have to say things are good. Getting in all my Vitamins and working on getting in more walking. I went back to work so it's an adjustment to fit everything in

Glad to hear things are going well for everyone! I had my sleep study (all good) and my abdominal ultrasound is Monday feb 9th and my gastroscopy is that Friday. Finally it feels like it's starting to happen. Amazingly I'll have ALL the necessary testing done before my second appointment at St. Joe's in Hamilton. They're sooooo slow! Hopefully once I'm in and can show them results to pretty much every test they request, they'll book my other appointments closer together. Most people on here who I started with have already had surgery!

Anyway, I'm curious how the transitions to work went. Is it hard to hide your altered eating from people? I often wonder how that'll go.

@@freshair Hey there. I'm doing pretty good. I'm happy to be up to the pureed diet but not everything sits well. Most days I still have a Protein shake for Breakfast and yogurt for lunch. Canned salmon sits well but other easily mashed fish and foods not so much. I usually have 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food. pureed vegetable Soups have also been a winner. Boiled eggs are good too. I've not experienced dumping yet, so for that I am grateful. Oh and Solo Protein Bars are a nice high Protein yummy treat. I only eat about a third to half of a bar at a time.

One thing that has been a problem is Water. It just lands in my stomach like a brick unless it's warm Water. Room temperature is still uncomfortable and right out the fridge is totally out of the question. One day I ate too fast (I was late for an appointment) and then in a rush I swallowed my Vitamins with cold water. I don't know what I was thinking. The pain was horrendous. I couldn't move for 10 minutes. I've looked at Vitamin water but it has way too many carbs. I've been using Crystal Light which I like but I don't want to drink it all the time. I actually like water and I know now I'm not drinking enough. But I'm trying.

I'll be at the TWH support meeting Wednesday night. Anyone else going?

@@cab127 There is certainly a lot of trial and error involved. Sometimes I don't even feel hungry but I eat because I know it's time for lunch or Breakfast. Unfortunately I also don't also get the full signal unless I eat slowly until it's too late but so far it hasn't been too uncomfortable. Eating slow, which is hard, seems to be the key.

Hope you don't have to experience dumping again.

I also try to walk every other day. Still have issues with Constipation on some days and I'm hoping the walking will help. I know my lack of Water intake isn't helping though. =(

Had my surgery in Red Deer, Alberta yesterday at 2:30pm. Last night was brutal! The antibiotic they started me on I ended up being allergic to, and the Fentanyl made me super sick and doped out. Things started improving a lot early this morning when I asked to be cut back to just anti inflammatory pain meds, and regular Tylenol.

Started sipping Water this morning as well, and have eaten a few bites of Jello. So not hungry, but I am trying! I have been walking as much as possible, but still have gas pains. And coughing a bit from the anesthetic.

I am going home tomorrow, which I am very happy about!

The staff here were so amazing. Dr Gregg is awesome!

@@Calgirl26 Congrats on having your surgery! A bit of a rough start but you seem to have recovered nicely. May it only be smooth sailing from now on!

So why do certain foods not 'sit well'. Is it when food is of a higher fat content or had some natural (artificial sugars) or is it just trial and error?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
