monola 19 Posted March 11, 2014 I know I can't take NSAIDs since surgery but what about cortisone shots in my hips? Anyone know?
slimdown456 0 Posted March 12, 2014 I am needing a cortisone shot in my shoulder right now. I was told I could not have one until several months after the surgery when the doctor gives the okay. They said it would cause problems with healing. I am having gastric sleeve surgery in 2 days. Your doctor may be different. Be sure to ask before you get a shot. gowalking 10,790 Posted March 12, 2014 I know I can't take NSAIDs since surgery but what about cortisone shots in my hips? Anyone know? I'm banded so I don't know if that makes a difference but I can tell you that I took NSAIDS and had cortisone shots until I finally had my hips replaced. Without the NSAIDS and shots, I wouldn't have been able to walk so I did what I had to do. I'd suggest you discuss you pain and discomfort with your doctor to determine your own risk/benefit. Good luck...I certainly know what it's like to live with joint pain.
music1618 879 Posted March 12, 2014 I am on daily prednisone due to rheumatoid arthritis and have been for about 6-7 years. I have had no issues. I have received shots in the side of my hip and in the joint space since the surgery. Again no issues. Just talk with both doctors about it.
mitzie46 116 Posted March 12, 2014 I am almost 8 months out and had my first cortisone shot in my knee last week. It was a lifesaver! No NSAIDS except voltaren gel because I put it directly on the knee.
