Tijuana surgery March 21

Recommended Posts

I am very nervous and wish I could share with my family. I know they won't support me in this. My fiancé and I watched videos and he's OK with it now. I'm just scared about the doctor...and hearing that the hospital may be a clinic. Jerusalem Hospital...I wish you the best and really would like for you to keep in touch with me!!!

Hi Carmen.....

At least your fiance supports you. I have heard that Jerusalem is just a clinic. Do you have to stay in a hotel or at the facility? Mine is a huge hospital. .. and they pick me up at San Diego airport then drive me to the hospital then me and my guest stay in a suite at the hospital then take me back to the airport. So Maybe do some more looking into Jerusalem,... try posting it and wait for responses. I'll keep. U up to date with me and my journey. I would love to!

Hi make sure you wear compression socks and continually drink Water through out the flight. The Dr may give you some other form of medication while you are there to prevent blood clots on the way home. Send an email to your Dr and tell them that you are nervous about the 6hr flight do they have any special recommendations. Don't panic

So I would do what the others said...talk to your Dr and just ty to give them all the information needed. Stay positive. I'll be flying in Friday morning and surgery later that day. .. I'm just trying to get thru the pre op diet... ugh but I know it's all worth it. !! Thanks again for all the posts and information.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
