maybe I'm not meant to have WLS :-(

Recommended Posts

Everything was going find til 2wks ago. I was approved, but I didn't want to have surgery at the hospital I work at. So I had the option to have surgery at a different hospital where my doctor mostly perform surgery. It will cost me more out of pocket. But I don't mind..my department is where most patients come to for recovery. Keeping my wls private. I wad approved 3 days after they submit to insurance. Now I told them I wanted to go to a different hospital. It's been almost 2 wks. .and every time I call the doctor office, they keep telling me insurance hasn't changed the location for surgery yet..I call and email them still same answer. .since my family think I'm not big enough for surgery 240lbs and they are against it. I'm starting to feel maybe it's God way of protecting from major complications I was going to encounter if I had surgery. Like the saying goes God's rejection is for your protection..just feeling down. .I wouldn't call or email office again. .I will let God guide me..feeling sad..my family may be right. .I'm not big enough for wls..tnx for letting me vent!

Keeping wls private

re14768

you were immediately given insurance approval

thats wonderful :)

i can understand not wanting to have surgery at the hospital where you work

hopefully things will work out

I think you DO have to stay on the doctors' offices back!!!!

you want the change in hospitals, you want this surgery - and they need to get their act together!!!

i am sorry your mom presently isn't being supportive

as you said, hopefully that will change sooner than later

fortunately or not, with my commorbittes, BMI, problems - i was definitely "heavy enough  " to have surgery

per your profile

you are also 5'3 :)

i weighed 235 lbs day of surgery (you are 240?)

tell your mom, per my doc - we are "both heavy enough" for this surgery :(

and you can also tell her i lost 105 lb - reaching my goal weight of 130 lbs ;)

tell her i am also the happiest i've ever been, and that i'm cute as a button

good luck

kathy

Take a step back for one second ok. Maybe just maybe it was meant for you to have your surgery at the original place. Maybe God is telling you to have it there to protect you from something happening at that other hospital. I get you want to keep it private. You need to do this for you, and no one else. Think of how much better life will be when this weight is off for good. Keep your head up and please don't feel shame or embarrassment for doing something so positive for yourself. God will always show you the right direction to go, you just have to listen. Good luck with what ever choice you make.

If you dont want it, well that is your choice. BUT I have had a lot of problems losing wieght in my life. Lots of failed diets and I personally never thought once it was gods way of tell me to be overweight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
