Today has been 3 weeks since my surgery. I have not had one headache (other than in the hospital which the nurse said was from the morphine). Pre surgery i would have a pretty bad headache at least 4-5 times a week. Hope this continues and I am not jinxing myself writing this.

It has been suggested that a complete reduction in eating those horrible processed carbohydrates has an impact on the amount of headaches we get....

I have to say I concur.. (being a Migraine sufferer)

I have had very few since being sleeved. Long may it continue - for all of us! :)

I was thinking it may have something to do with carbs, also. I was a BIG sweet eater. Working in a doctor office we always have people bringing goodies. I would eat cake for lunch and have another piece later in the day ????.

Me too. Due to a back injury 7 years ago I began to have constant Migraines. To the point that I needed treatment every second day that cost me into the thousands of dollars every year....I just wanted to die sometimes..Medication did not even touch them.

Since surgery I have only had 5. I am so stoked about that...Days go by without a headache of any kind....

I am hoping that I have a similar outcome. My Migraines require Imitrex shots, which I have to ration because the insurance company limits how many you can buy per month to four.

Cannot wait for the surgery (March 17th) - I will probably be suffering right up until then - in fact I have one coming on now,

But the end is sight - so I am hurting and hopeful - LOL - sounds like it should be the title of a chapter in Shades of Grey.

The fact that we are more aware of what we eat and do not eat the same junk we did before surgery can only help our overall health. Once I get further through the recovery process do I expect my mental alertness to increase and my productivity to only get better once I go back to work. It is no coincidence.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
