Pre-Op Accountability Challenge

Recommended Posts

Let's post daily to be accountable and keep each other motivated.

My pre-op goals are 35 grams of Fiber, 60 grams of Protein, 64 oz Water and 30 minutes of exercise. YAY!! I met my goals all my goals for today. With the assistance of Protein shakes and fiber supplements. I dusted off my P90 dvd and popped it in. I'm so excited and tired!! Haven't exercised in awhile but I made the big step of getting started again! First small steps to big changes for the rest of my life! I'm counting this as my official day 1 of pre-op diet. 15 days left!!

Hello!

Sounds like you are back on track for your March surgery. I saw an earlier post that you were going to have to wait until December due to insurance issues.

I had my surgery in Tifton on 2/12 and am doing great! I have an appt. with Dr. Smith tomorrow and should get my first fill. Did you know they are starting a support group tonight?

Will you be attending the group? I was so glad to find out that if I had previous insurance coverage before this policy my pre-existing condition exclusion would be waived. That's how I was able to get back on track! Glad to hear all is well with you! I asked Dr. Smith if I would have anything in my band initially he said no. Hope you get a good fill tomorrow!!. Were you hungry much?

I did attend the support group. There were five of us there--everyone there had already had surgery. It will the second Tuesday of each month. Maybe you can attend next month. I get hungry sometimes but not too bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
