2bfit 62 Posted March 11, 2014 I am 2.5 years out and I am still taking an acid pill every day. Anybody else still having an issue with acid?
lsereno 2,525 Posted March 11, 2014 I take one daily and have for quite awhile now. I took them first six months, then didn't have much of a problem, but acid crept back in last year and I now take it daily. Certain foods and drinks will still get me. I still don't do tortillas, esp. flour ones and spaghetti gets me every time too. I rarely eat noodles and I think that might be it. Or maybe the italian sausage in my spaghetti sauce. Georgia 2,908 Posted March 19, 2014 I am 2.5 years out and I am still taking an acid pill every day. Anybody else still having an issue with acid? I never had to take anything until just recently. (3 1/2 years out) Some people who have had reflux prior will continue to have excess cid or GERD and others who never had it, develop it. It seems to "crop up" around year three if not before. My PCP prescribed Prilosec as a maintenance drug when I had to take some severe steroids for a cervical problem and said, "I'm of the opinion everyone should take a small dose acid blocker every day!" So It's not unusual. What IS unusual is if it really kicks up and causes extreme issues. Be on the look out for this - if not treated correctly, acid reflux can cause esophogeal cancer and ulcers. 1 msfitn2014 reacted to this
Chimera 644 Posted March 20, 2014 I have taken Omeprazole every day - sometimes every other since surgery - almost 2 years out now. My acid is right there if I don't take it.
