Mama Spike 144 Posted March 10, 2014 I am out 9 weeks and down 35lbs. In the last month my hips have started bothering me walking and during sex. I never had issues preop and my activity is at the same level. Anyone else have postop ortho issues?
mooncat 106 Posted March 11, 2014 I have been receiving regular chiropractic adjustments and frequent massages, so I have not had any real issues. When you think about how your posture had to change to accommodate excess weight, it is logical to think that your body may have some adjustments as the weight comes off. Since you mention your hip, it may be the muscle that extends from the hip to the knee. It crosses over, so the muscle from your right hip crosses over to the inside of your right knee. It can get very tight and cause pain in the hip or even your back. There are stretches for this muscle, but I can't spell the muscle name so that you can google them. One you can do to see if this is the issue is to sit in a chair and cross your legs with the leg that has the hip pain on top of the other leg. Grasp your knee with your opposite hand and pull gently toward your body. If you feel that the muscle is tight, do this stretch every few hours and it should begin to ease. 1 Mich129 reacted to this

mag413 4 Posted April 8, 2014 I had rny 12-31-13 and I noticed at maybe a month and a half out my hips really hurt after I walk for about 5-10 min, if I walk longer my shoulders and back start to get really tense. My doc said it was because of the weight loss but this month I will be 4 months out and still having the same pain, was considering looking into a chiropractic adjustment. Katcloudshepherd 630 Posted April 14, 2014 Mama Spike, I had my surgery 12/11/13 and I had serious orthopedic issues before surgery. I had to stop taking Naproxin, 500 mg. twice daily. It has NOT been an easy adjustment even though I have lost a significant amount of weight. I see a chiropractor on a regular basis, (back is a crooked as a politician), and I'm getting another injection in my knees today. If I were you---I'd see a doctor. My chiropractor said as you loose weight, the way your body carried the heavier weight is not necessarily how it will need to carry the lower weight. That is why I'm still getting regular adjustments even with a significant weight loss. I hope you get relief. Kathleen
