Are there any dangers or negatives to drinking Decaf coffee?

My doc approved Decaf from the beginning. You just have to watch out if you put anything in it - milk, fat free cream, sugar, etc. - for the calories.

I opted to use milk in my coffee, then mixed my shakes with Water.

I am allowed 1-2 cups Decaf but haven't had it. I'm afraid if I have it, I will trigger going back to regular coffee. I haven't had it for 3 months so no need to start now

I was told I could have Decaf after two weeks. Regular coffee is allowed when I am 2 months out.

I drank a skinny vanilla latte on Saturday. It was really cold and I was outside a lot so I wanted to warm up. I drank about half and chucked the rest.

I am allowed Decaf coffee, but I don't think express come decaffeinated and I don't really like drip coffee. Aside from .that one cup I haven't had anymore coffee and don't plan to. I was a Starbuck's junkie and fear if I start having it again I will trigger my caffeine addiction and not be able to stop.

My doc says no caffeine for two months post-op, but Decaf is okay - but like people say, being careful what you add in. I'm a starbucks addict (plain NF latte thank you!) and am starting to do half-caffienated to get ready for SOMEDAY moving up the insufferably long wait list for the surgery. I have the Verismo espresso maker at home, and use the decaf pods all the time and can't even tell is decaf really. Ask for a demo at a startbucks stand alone store - but tell them to use decaf and see if you like it. I was impressed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
