I've never actually posted in a forum before but my surgeon and his staff told me to download this app as a source of support throughout the experience.

I'm 25 years old and recently married. I work as a therapist in a psych hospital. My dad, mom and sister have all had the sleeve in the past 6 months and have had amazing results. I decided to have the surgery prior to having children because I want to be happy with myself first and be in shape.

I'm scheduled for surgery March 24th. I start my two week liquid diet in the morning. I didn't know till a little while ago that it's suppose to be sugar free and in freaking out a little because I didn't know so I feel more unprepared then I was to begin with. If any one has tips on getting through the two week pre-op diet that would be great. I'm a huge caffeine drinker especially soda so any tips on how to decrease that craving would be great. Thanks

I start my 2-week preop diet on March 19. I am going to follow your post to see if anyone has any really good suggestions. The caffeine thing has me worried.

I was also a soda addict. Try drinking as much Water as possible. Ask your surgeon if your allowed to drink crystal lite during your pre op diet. I won't be doing pre op diet until next month myself. Wish you the best on your WLS journey!

My Preop diet calls for no sweets and no carbs. drinks must be sugar free, sugar-free Jello, 3 - 4 oz of lean Protein for lunch and veggies, Breakfast and dinner a Protein shake of my choosing. no sodas at all not even diet sodas and Water, Water, water and more water. Keep it at 1200 calories of day, those are my instructions. Hope this helps you a little!

Hi I would do as the above suggested and drink plenty of Water as well as see if you can drink crystal light before preping for this procedure i used to drink a 2 liter of diet pop a day and hated crystal ligh, I have now learned to not drink pop because it streches your pouch and drink crystal light, i gave up pop 7 months ago and honestly I do not miss it , I think that you will get to feel the same too soon. Good luck.

Surgery is the 25th so my pre-op starts the 15th. I'm a HUGE soda drinker!!! This week I'll switch to diet soda and taper down each day until Sat. When pre-op starts. I'm hoping I can do this. My surgeon is one of the ones who doesn't allow soda at all after surgery. Crystal light is a good idea, or maybe iced tea. Good luck!! I KNOW we all can do this!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
