Hi! I'm not in KC but did travel there for sleeve on February 6 with Dr Hoehn at KC Bariatric. You will not regret it. Dr, his staff and surgical staff are beyond great!! The care I received after surgery at the surgery center was really amazing!! I can't say enough about what a great experience it was for me. I'm excited for you!!

I agree Dr. Hoehn was great! Surgery was a breeze and my stay was great! All the nurses were very sweet! Plus my bed was so comfy LOL.

I attended the March 24 seminar at KC Bariatric Clinic. I went with every intention of going with the lap band, but during the seminar changed my mind to the sleeve. Of course, I'm sure I will be weighing out all the pros and cons with the doctor. Dr. Hamilton did the seminar but Dr. Hoehn came in towards the end and answered questions. I think I would be quite satisfied with either one. I do appreciate hearing that the staff is as great as I had hoped. Now, I'm waiting to hear from a Case Manager regarding insurance and to schedule my first appointment. I can't wait to get started for real!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
