hollomon66 0 Posted April 1, 2007 My name is Jeff Hollomon. I am getting banded on 4/5 in Blackfoot, ID. I have read as much as there is to read, but I am still nervous. Any advice going in?
GayleTX 1 Posted April 1, 2007 Be sure your pantry is stocked with a good variety of liquids for the next couple of weeks.....SF Jello, broth, popsicles, Water, tea, and, very importantly, some good Protein supplements that you really like. Best wishes to you!!
Gr8ful gal 0 Posted April 1, 2007 I am also getting banded on 4/5 in NY. I have done the grocery shopping, cleaned the house, done all the laundry and I am getting manicure and pedicure on Tuesday. I still feel like I should be doing something else. I guess it's nerves. Good Luck.
hollomon66 0 Posted April 1, 2007 One concern I have is that I have been on the pre-op diet for 8 days.I was restricted to 705 cal a day, and I have not done well with sticking to it. However, I have lost 12 pounds. Is the weight loss a sign of success, or will I have to reschedule?
Gr8ful gal 0 Posted April 1, 2007 I don't know but I am down 11 and have been pretty strict. The doc said fatty foods are not good for liver now, so I guess depends what you've been eating?
hollomon66 0 Posted April 1, 2007 I have had some high fat foods a few times. I still have 4 days, and I wonder if I can rescue myself. I guess I'll find out. I wonder if he will cut me then sew me up if it is not what he wants.
Gr8ful gal 0 Posted April 1, 2007 I don't think so. The way it was explained to me, the idea is to constrict the liver so it's not hanging over the retractor during surgery. Yours just might hang over a bit making it a little more difficult to manuver. But some doctors say there is no way you can shrink a liver in two weeks so who knows! I doubt they won't do it at all. hollomon66 0 Posted April 1, 2007 i guess the other weird thing is that how would he know if it was shrunk at all? they have only done a pre-op chest xray. either way....
jono201 0 Posted April 1, 2007 do not forget a magic bullit and cream Soups to whip in it. I thinned mine with soy milk and split pea has lots of Protein too. A magic bullit or similar gadget will be your best freind for the next six weeks.

JosieK 120 Posted April 2, 2007 hi jeff, i was banded just this past friday 3/30. one thing.....everyone' experience is different. i found many things i read on this website to be very helpful and some things didnt happen. so dont get scared. i was deathly afraid of gas pains and didnt get them. i didnt even think about nausea and was on all 4's at 1:00 am the night i had operation. however as soon as i took tums...it was all right i suggest following the pre-op lists on this web under "pre and post operations thread". they were very helpful in addition to what people said before me...i needed : liquid tylenol Tums (my nausea was horrible the first day) liquid Vitamins thermometer also a pillow and blanket for the ride home was great. i also brought loose clothes to come home in. 2 things i didnt have but wish i did were: ginger tea for the nausea heating pad for left shoulder pain (but tylenol helped this) anyway if you get nervous...just think about all the positive people that have had this before us.....that's what calmed me down keep us posted
