Hi There,

I just had lap band surgery a few weeks ago. I was wondering when you go for a fill do you not eat anything or do you need food in your stomach so they can see how much is needed?

Call your doc to see what they want. Mine says no solid food for three hours prior.

I usually try to get mine scheduled in the early morning and have just my morning coffee. I have a Protein shake a little afterwards.

Check with your surgeons office, they are all different. I had my first fill nearly two weeks ago and no restrictions for me before hand. However, I have a friend who sees a different doctor in the office and she has restrictions.

Hi There,

Just went for my 1st fill this Thursday and thank god I'm off to a good start. I got my band filled with .2 cc and was told if its too tight I should go back and have it emptied. How can you tell if .2 cc is too much for you?

My doctor suggests no eating for 2 hours prior but I was able to drink as much as I wanted. Call your doctor just to make sure. Every doctor is different.

I had my first fill last Tuesday and my doctor gave me 3 cc's. He is aggressive with his fills. If you are too tight you will have trouble getting food down and fluids.

I was able to eat/drink but once I had a fill I was on full liquids for the rest of the day,

It sounds like you are fine then. You shouldn't worry but when you go to mushies just make sure you don't forget to chew, chew, and chew some more. My doctor said to do the 20 second rule. Chew for 20 seconds and wait 20 seconds before taking another bite.
