I eat bread daily. Often a slice of whole wheat at Breakfast or in a sandwich at lunch. I eat white bread less often, less than once per week. Sometimes I toast the bread, chop it into cubes, and have it in my salad. It's not a trigger food for me. I eat some whole grains with each meal. When it's not the bread, might be barley, oatmeal, or quinoa. Occasionally rice or Pasta. If I don't have the whole grain, I have a starchy veggies, such as sweet potato, corn, or Beans.

Have trouble with breads of any type...seems to fill me up too fast than I get this pain-like feeling. I steer clear of bread.

This morning I had half a whole wheat English muffin( only Thomas's brand). For lunch, I'll eat one piece of wheat bread with turkey and a slice of cheese. I will have chicken and salad for dinner. I still lost 2lbs last week eating bread. I'm also on 25units of long acting insulin a day so I do need to have some carbs. I can't just sit down at dinner and eat from a bread basket in a restaurant, but I can have small amounts and I'm 100% OK with that.

As per religious observance, I bake and eat Challah every Friday and Saturday for HaMotzi. Between a pinch of Challah and about 3oz of Grape juice, I'm stuffed to the gills. I've had great luck with thin pieces of Rye for when I need a deli fix.

How soon after your procedure did you have challah? Thanks!

I'd say about 2 months.

I eat bread, a little, but sometimes I just can t refuse. I think I may have slower weight loss because of it. I like a variety in food. meat and salad is getting boring to me, a egg and toast is what I like once in a while, also a tuna snadwich..:) I keep my protien up and also Water on those days.

One slice of toast and marmite and I am pleasantly full. Not one more bite, though, or it is extremely uncomfortable!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
