First off thank you all. I was so nervous about surgery I did not sleep well. Lol. @ tomander I like the suggestion of a support group. Where is your support group hosted? Im in Long Island, NY.

@k8mk1999 my weight currently is 306. Very embaressed by that number. I type this as I am getting ready for the gym which is a huge step for me in itself. I am focused and am just hoping not to lose that focus. I do have high expectations. Is that normal? I def will dowload that app!! A co worker suggested it friday night to me as well but I was like wth is an app going to do. Hearing it from this forum as well makes me think its worth the download!! Ty!!

I think with that starting weight, 50lbs is realistic (and I forgot to count this month). Don't worry about that number. It's just a number and it'll be in the past soon enough. I've been on this forum for about 4ish months or so at this point, your number is nothing to be embarrassed about. There are many that are higher and many that are lower. Oh! I also lost about 6 lbs in my 2 week pre-op diet.

Good job on getting to gym this morning! For me, morning workouts suck as I'm tired, but that's also the only way to reliably get there on a consistent schedule.

For me I'm setting small goals and if I overpass that goal good. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. Whatever goal you set you will do fine. We are here to support you

It is hard sometimes to get to the gym but I meet with a trainer on Mondays, go 2 times in addition, and do a sunday am Water arobics class. But I wont lie and say I wasnt tired since my nerves kept me awake till almost 2 am. Smh. If I can be 300 by the time I am banded I will be happy!!! I only make myself go to the gym on sun am by the way. Lol

I receeived my banding date from my Dr's office- April 7. I was feeling pretty excited but as the days draw are passing and I realize it's less than a month away I experiencing some major nerves. Reading over the Dr's paperwork has only made it worse. Did anybody else feel this way? Any suggestions? I have talked to friends and they have just said if I am that scared dont do it. Thats not an option for health reasons. Please help!!

I understand how you feel--about any surgery. I'd recommend these tips:

Read only success stories prior to surgery; don't get bogged down in reading the horrors of occasional complications once you've made your choice because it will just psychologically torment you for no good reason.

If you worry you're taking a lazy/pointless risk, think of it this way--your short and long term health is in more danger, statistically, staying this way than having a proven and effective surgery. That's one way I look at it--I can either have this surgery now under controlled conditions, or wait for them to rush me to the hospital 10 years from now with a heart attack and have major emergency surgery.

Just some tips, good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!

Thank you skywalker! I will def try these tips! And you are so right! I am CHOOSING to take control now rather than have an emergency that I will not have control over!

I agree with skywalker. I almost talked myself out of my surgery Friday listening to someone who had it done in October. She sat and told me all the pain she is in and how nothing is enjoyable when she eats. She said I would vomit all the time. She really freaked me out then I had to take my own advice. Everyone is different. Her experience will not be mine.

Nerves are normal. My band process was so fast my head was spinning and thought about backing out. It was the best decision I had ever made regarding my life. I was banded July 1. My Initial consult I was around 297 last march I meet with the surgeon. N did the last time in ever going to eat this tour. When I got the approval I did 2 week preop diet full force I did the straight liquids not even eating the allowed steamed veggies. I had to prepare for surgery and get my body ready. Dropped 20lbs those 2 weeks. I'm down about 87 pounds now. I do work out 5-7 times a week weight training and cardio. Believe me I was not a workout person. I know get up at 4 30 am to get to the gym before work. I follow the advice of my dr n Nutrionist . Making sure to get my Vitamins and Protein in. i look back now and wish I did this surgery years ago. It has changed so many things in my life. I worried about never being able to eat fill in the blank. You know what I don't care if I can't eat something and most can eat everything. My band is picky it will like something one day and not the next. N boy do I listen. This web site is awesome for support. Good luck and I highly recommend monthly photos so u can see ur process because sometimes the scale won't move but your body will definitely show the changes

Tomorrow is the day. I purchased all the things I will need yesterday. I Have To Get Popsicles tonight. I think I'm ready. Trying to push down more fluids because I'm feeling real sluggish today. I feel drained for some reason

Stress is draining. First few days after surgery I was sluggish and not myself . Just follow drs orders and walk. The discomfort is temporary n the rewards are incredible . Good luck and welcome to the club

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
