HI everybody. I was wondering how many pounds you lost in you first 3 months after sleeve surgery. I know everyone is different but I am just trying to get an idea. Thanks :D

I have not noticed weight loss any quicker or slower because of age. I have seen it be said that men will typically lose 50% of their excess weight and woman will lose 40% of their excess weight in the first 3 months but those are averages. Some will lose more or less

And sorry I was on the app so I didn't notice the 50s forum. I'm in my 40s though

I'm 58 and I don't feel I'm losing as fast as some on the posters that are in their 20s and 30s. I try not to compare myself with others as everyone's journey is unique but I have noticed that the younger folks do lose more rapidly and they seem to have more energy. I'll be 4 weeks post surgery on Monday and I still can only walk a mile and a half. Next week I will try to do 2 miles per day. I hope that will help with the weight loss.

I am 60 years old and lost 33 pounds post op in three months. (plus an 10 pounds pre-op). Of course someone in their 20's would conceivably lose faster. and I have seen the stats on this website that indicates such. But don't worry too much about "rate of weight loss" ...There are lots of factors if you compare to others. It is nice to see someone lose fast..however, I am very happy with my progress. I am concentrating on making lifestyle changes to maintain my weight loss, not just to take the weight off. (I could always lose weight, but I would immediately gain it back). I have 32 pounds left. As long as I am eating healthly most of the time , exercise , get good sleep. Then the 32 pounds will follow in time. Hopefully this help with you concern about weight loss :}

Older women definitely lose slower, especially after menopause. I lost around 2 lbs a week at my fastest rate the first 6 months. It's been slowing down the closer I get to goal. Now I see only a couple of pounds a month loss. I'm 53.

I was sleeved on Dec. 30, 2013 and , to date, have only lost 23 pounds. I do light to medium exercise ( walking, pilates). I'm eating approximately 1200 calories per day. Try to keep carbs below 25-30 grams per day. I can go weeks without losing a pound. It gets very discouraging. I'm 56 and my starting weight was 230. Is there anyone out there like me or can give me some advice?

I am 65 and exactly 3months out. I have lost 35 pounds and I am only 15 pounds from my doctors goal and 20 pounds from mine. I am losing slowly about 1-2 pounds a week. I will meet my goal at 6 months though.

Congrats Joysdelights on your weight loss and even going for it at this stage of your life. See it doesn't matter what age people are and you've helped me to see that. I'm 57 and have thought twice about doing this but now I'm convinced I Can Do It!!! Thank you for your input

I just turned 57. I had surgery Feb 19. Since Jan 2014 I have lost over 50 pounds. My blood pressure is normal. I do not snore and gird is gone. Also arthritis pain is gone thanks to surgery. While I hope to lose more weight I am so happy. I seem to lose slower than others I feel healthier than I have from several decades I just recently started walking and exercising. I would recommend surgery if you have your doctor's blessings. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am 61. So far I've lost 32 pounds since surgery on 2/19. (52 since I started my diet almost a year ago). I feel it is going really slow compared to some people. I try to eat what I'm supposed to (okay, I ate 3 French fries when I went out to dinner with my hubby a few weeks ago) but that's the extent of my cheating. I walk a lot, and will start back at the health club again next week.

It gets very discouraging...especially when I see people dropping as much weight in a few weeks as I've done in over 3 months. I know everybody loses weight differently but darn, I wish the pounds would fall off of me.

I know I am losing sizes because I've had to go through my closet a few times already. I guess it will take as long as it takes. At least the weight is going the right way.

Hang in there. Our bodies work differently. Perhaps we were overweight longer!! The surgery is really not a quiclue fix. Still I know for me it will be a life long struggle

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
