I had my sleeve on the 14th of feb. My pain level in hospital was through the roof for the majority of the two days I was in there. I am 3 weeks out now and still have to take paracetamol and codeine 4 hours. If I laugh I have servers pain, crying gives me severe pain and general day to day movement gives me a lot of pain, that's why continue to take my pain killers. A friend who had her op the same day as me has had no pain for two weeks. She's been doing light swimming for two weeks. I could not imagine doing any exercise. I struggle to do a decent amount of walking.

What are other people going through? Xxx

I have not had the surgery yet but I would think that the amount of pain you describe is not normal. Have you seen your Dr about it? I hope someone who has had the surgery will answer you. Good luck!

I was sleeved 2/24, almost two weeks post op. I barely needed any pain meds for the 2 nights I was in the hospital and haven't touched any since coming home. It sounds like too much pain for you to still be having this far out. Did your pain subside and then now is bad again? Or has it just always been bad? Either way, I would call your MD. Good luck!! Feel better!!

KatieTC- I'm 8 wks out now but my story sounds like yours! The day after the surgery I stood up and couldn't stand all the way and noticed my stomach had a big bulge on the left side. Come to find out my inner sutures were tied too tight and in 2 spots the were pulling my outer stomach in so it was very painful to move. When I got home I couldn't lay down, had to sleep in my recliner. Make a long story short the dr told me it would take 2-4 wks for the sutures to release and pop. It took 5 wks. Once it did I felt much better no pain! I was in pain for that whole 5 weeks anytime I moved around because the sutures were pulling. It definitely delayed being about to exercise and move around comfortably. I was out of work for 3 wks and needed a fourth week. I couldn't walk without my hand supporting the left side of my belly. I'm wondering if you have the same thing happening? I hope you feel better soon!!!! Try ice that is what the dr told me.

I was in the same boat. My dr. Prescribed me muscle relaxers and I took that for about a week they worked wonders. I am almost 6 weeks post op. And I was taking OxyContin and Tylenol and Ibuprofen around the clock. Then my suture popped and I feel great no more pain. I can sleep laying all the way down and on my side. In some people it takes a little longer for those stitches to devolve of pop. At the after surgery I could not walk straight up and down. If I sat down my husband had to help me back up. He was actually helping me with everything. Good luck.

I was sleeved on 2/20 and have had an easy recovery. The only pain I had was from my incisions. For the first couple days standing up, especially from lying down, was painful. It got better after the staples came out. The incision they took my stomach out of is still sore through.

I'm sorry you're in so much pain! I hope you feel better soon!

Thank girls I've called the nurse today she said it'll be my stitches being tight and all my insides fusing and healing becoming tight. Hopefully it shouldn't go on for much longer ten days or so. If it goes on for two weeks I have to call back.

On the plus side I've had great weight loss I'm already over a third of the way to my goal :) :) :)

No regrets happy days x x x

Hang in there KatieTC! I was counting the days and minutes until my sutures popped! When they didn't in 2-4 wks like the dr said I cried for a wk! It would feel better than all of a sudden I would be in a lot of pain. For example 5 wks out I went to shop rite and could hardly walk or move I was in so much pain. The next day at one point I got up from the couch and was so excited I could move pain free and I was all better!!!! I didn't feel it pop I could jut bend and move pain free. My point it might not happen when they say it will. I thought they would never loosen but hold in there it does happen and you will instantly feel better!!!! I'm hoping for you everyday they pop soon!!!!!!!!

No I'm still in a lot of pain. The pain has spread to my back now to. I think my posture must be bad due to the pain in my left side. It's getting annoying if I have a busy day or if I do anything physical like go for a walk or muck my horse out I can not move the next day. I have faith that they will tho and I am looking forward to it. I constantly have a hot water bottle strapped to my front and my back. The heat helps a little. Thank you for asking. I know it will all be fixed some time xxz

Ok so I'm 2 weeks out. I was healing so nicely then I developed a cold and was sneezing 10 times a day, now I have a cough and am coughing all day long. Now my big incision on the left is killer... Doesn't hurt when I'm still. No pain eating or drinking... Hurts when I try to lay other than my back and really bad when I walk. I've been walking around the mall everyday. Maybe I overdid it? Please tell me I'm gonna be ok. I'm kind of a hypochondriac. I've broken ribs on that side before and it kind of feels like that

Yes the more activity I did the more pain I was in. I know everyone is different but just in case the day before they finally popped I was in the worst pain of all and felt like I was going backwards and so upset. I was 5 wks out and at shop rite an could hardly move. The next day is when yet FINALLY popped So keep that in mind. It might get worse before it gets better!! I prayed every night to wake up an the sutures popped. It was exactly 5 wks! What a relief!!! It does happen and you will feel much better!!! Hang in there!!!! Ohhh I feel your pain! But I hope I'm giving you hope as someone who went through it!!

Splatt83 yes you will be ok! It is probably from sneezing and using your abdomen muscles. I couldn't lay down for 5 wks. I had to sleep in my recliner. Could be suture pulling as well. Hang in there!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
