I had surgery on Wednesday and since then my sleeve will absolutely not tolerate anything sweet. It's been absolute torture trying to get down my prescribed (and mandatory) liquid meds because they are all fruit flavored and really sweet. I literally just spent two hours trying to work up the courage to swallow maybe one tablespoon worth of meds. I eventually did but now I feel sick to my (tiny) stomach.

Does anyone have any experience or know how I can make these go down any better? Should I have them refilled with no flavor? But what if that's worse??

I'm going to start my Protein Shakes tomorrow and I can't imagine that will go well at all since they're sweet. But I know I need to start them because I've literally only been able to tolerate Water for the past few days and I feel like I am just going to get myself malnourished. :( :( help!

I also had surgery on Wednesday, my surgeon allows his patients to use a pill splitter and cut meds to the size of a tic tac and swallow them that way. Maybe you could ask your surgeon about that. As for the Protein Shakes, I can't really think about swallowing them yet, more so because of the milk content. Unjury has a chicken Soup packet that you mix with Water and it actually is good; they also have strawberry sorbet flavor that you can mix with water or lemonade, it's not super sweet, and you can add a little extra water to try to cut the sweet a little more. God luck, we'll get through it :)

I also has surgery Wed 3/5. The doctors told me to buy a pill crusher at Cvs it's like $5.00. They mixed my meds in hospital with sugar free applesauce i just mixed at home yesterday with my broth and today with a little but of vanilla sugar free pudding. It worked. One of the pills crushed were Zofran.

Everything is so grossly sweet. I can only drink plain Water & tea because there is too much sweet in everything. I finally just cut my pills with a pill cutter. The Nexium granules I can handle those arent sweet. But I'm not sure what to do about ll the Vitamins. I'm hoping my palate will change again to tolerate some of this stuff. I'm thinking I of just getting injections for everything problem solved. If the doc will prescribe.

Thanks everyone. Today was slightly easier. Definitely wasn't prepared for such a sensitive stomach!

My liquid meds were not sweet infact they were completely B vit loaded tasted like a mix of raw meat blood and iron!
Gross beyond thinking about first time I took them I was ok as I never knew the taste soon as I swallowed I was like holy crap!!
Then I just couldn’t bring myself to do it my mum had put the 12 drops in my mouth and I would just sit there holding it I could not bring myself to swallow it!
I switched them out for orange kids ones the chewable chalky kind I just sucked on.
If you can switch them out go for it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
