swaffson 0 Posted June 21, 2008 (edited) Dr land also performed my surgery, and I am so pleased with the results. Just as you said It is just a tool. I have to consistantly exercise, and I now do strength training too. I have lost all but 10 pounds of my weight. I was band oct 3 of last year (2007). what a diff it has made. I weighed in at 241 on the day of sugery I now weigh about 165 and wear size 10 and a few size 8. I at first wanted to weigh 145 as goal but that will cause me to wear like a 4 and that is too small for my 5' 5" height. I only want to lose about 10 more and its probably skin. If you follow the rules success is inevitable! Edited June 21, 2008 by swaffson
swaffson 0 Posted June 21, 2008 hi carrie c I'm from cleveland too. maybe we know each other. You will love being banded. You just have to commit to doing what it takes to eat band friendly foods, get your adjustments and exercise. Its really fun after some weight loss. Prior to weight loss I could bearly ride my bike. Now I outride my husband!
Carrie_C 9 Posted June 21, 2008 swaffson, what a small world! I go for my first fill on Monday, so hopefully that will get my weight loss going a bit more. It is very slow go right now.
Bigb 0 Posted June 21, 2008 I live in Decatur but I work in Charleston. I lift weights and walk and punch the heavy bag. Hopefully when I get some more weight off I will be able to crank it up a notch on my workouts and cardio. I have a long way to go myself but it does feel good to be headed in the right direction. *slim* 2 Posted August 15, 2008 Hi. I am new to this forum. I am not banded yet. I am waiting for my surgeon to send in my paperwork for approval with my insurance company. Daniml, I noticed you used Dr. Ponce, what did you think of him? That is who I am going through. The first appointment was great, but I seem to have difficulty getting my calls returned. I could just be paranoid about that.
Carrie_C 9 Posted August 16, 2008 No, you are not paranoid. It takes them a while to return calls for some reason.
*slim* 2 Posted August 16, 2008 Thanks, I wondered about that. I have called a couple of times and didn't get a call back. I finally called again. Unfortunately for me, I got through on the wrong day, the insurance lady was not there. Such is the story of my life.
Bigb 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm still here too. Ponce wouldn't take my insurance so I went to Dr. Land at memorial. Getting the band is just the begining.
daniml 0 Posted August 16, 2008 slim... they do say to give them 48 hours for all non-emergency phone calls. It is frustrating sometime though when they don't call back. I still wouldn't have chosen another doc. Dr. Ponce is the best in his field in this area and that makes it worth it to me.

I guess I should realize that a busy doctor means a busy doctor's office. I just want this done so badly that I forget I am not the only patient.
