Mechanical soft according to my plan is anything I can cut with a plastic fork. My education guide has a really detailed list of what is or isn't allowed if you are interested I can email it to you? I look it at about 3 or 4 times a week to double check what I should and shouldn't be eating.

I would love a copy please.

My understanding is if you can get a fork through it.... Canned fish/chicken. Turkey meatball or meatloaf. No solid beef or pork

I did turkey chili caned salmon and Soups at this stage. Hope that helps.

I got some canned crab meat and added some fat free cream cheese and a little salt to it. Can't eat a whole lot of it just yet, but it sure is yummy, and I made sure I mashed it up really good. I may be pushing things, as I am two days away from going from the full liquids to a pureed diet, but I haven't had any problems so far with runny cheese grits and cream of wheat, so I decided to try this as well...at least it has more Protein than grits!

Hard boiled eggs, chicken, tuna, with some fat free mayo ran through a food processor til smooth. Mustard if you like. Spice to taste and tolerance.

Refried Beans (fat free) with some salsa. I have heard but not tried people using plain greek yogurt with this.

Cream of wheat

Grits

Soft scrambled eggs. (Soft meaning done but not cooked til browned.)

Plain yogurt, with a spoon of sugar free jelly for flavor.

Small Curd Cottage cheese

Ricotta cheese.< /p>

Mashed wite of sweet potatoes

Light Soups (with the solid stuff blended)

Strained baby foods(never tried this, but it is frequently recommended)

The above list should give you enough variety to last awhile

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
