wwled 38 Posted March 7, 2014 I use prescription glycolax. It's a powder that you mix into a Fluid of your choice. I didn't poop for a long time, and a lot of that has to do with what you're eating (or rather not eating.) they more solid of food I introduced to my stomach, the more I pooped. AZDesertRose76 18 Posted March 7, 2014 I've been really lucky not to have many problems with this, although that may be because my gallbladder has been gone since 2001, and so Constipation is not a big problem for me. When I have had trouble with it, Colace helps. (A lot of drugstores/pharmacies/grocery stores/etc. have a store brand that is just fine and less expensive than the name brand. I use the Publix [grocery store in the southeast US] store brand myself.)
justforme2014 28 Posted March 7, 2014 Its so weird. I was never regular before my surgery. Since my surgery on 02/11/14, I have gone EVERYday. Sometimes multiple times a day. Hope it continues. And hope you find some relief! I hear Miralax works wonders .
shadylady_57 54 Posted March 7, 2014 My Dr.,told me to use milk of mag it worked for about 6mos then it quit working. I now use Mira Lax drink it in either hot coffee or hot green tea works great.
Teachamy 1,042 Posted March 7, 2014 I need to get in the habit of using Miralax daily. I agree with other posters that it is great in tea. However, I have hit a weird non-pooping phase at 11 1/2 weeks out and am perplexed. Pre-op I was so regular. I do have celiac so last week I resorted to a "celiac cleanse". If you also have celiac, you can probably figure out what I mean by that. I was desperate!
BigGirlPanties 957 Posted March 7, 2014 I tried a probiotic, but it gives me dry mouth, etc... so I will use them up and go to Miralax...
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted March 7, 2014 I have gotten relief from Milk of Magnesia, plus I take a magnesium tablet and a Dulcolax morning and night. I also keep prune juice on hand. Sounds like a lot, but I eat eat so much Protein plus the whey Protein of one shake a day. There is not much room left in MIss Tummy for veggies and Beans, and fruit is limited because of the sugar. Plus you could put Benefiber in your beverages. Good luck, I hope everything comes out O K (pun intended).

Lady KatieBug 8 Posted March 8, 2014 I'm on the other end of the spectrum.. I'm 5 days out from my sleeve and I go many times a day... I call it Protein butt.. Cause as soon as I drink the protein I spend 20 minutes in the ladies room. It's embarrassing... I hope it doesn't continue after I get real food again. Bluesea71 698 Posted March 8, 2014 The Iron you're taking may be contributing to the problem. I had my pre-op 1:1 appointment with my dietitian today. I brought in all I the Vitamins I had purchased. I had purchased Iron ( ferrous sulfate) which seems to be the most common one sold in stores. She said it was okay, but it may leave me constipated. She recommended ferrous fumarate iron. I couldn't find it at our local Target or CVS, but did note Bariatric Advantage chewable iron utilizes it.
