SydneySweetHeart 21 Posted March 6, 2014 Hey everybody, I was wondering if you guys have had the same problems. I'm 17 and getting the sleeve in 3/13/14 and they put me in this 2 week liquid diet and I'm suppose to drink 3 a day but I'm having trouble finishing one. I keep throwing them up. I have lost weight but I'm feeling sick all the time. WHAT DO I DO!!
butterfyeffect 257 Posted March 6, 2014 If I were you, I would discuss it with my surgeon. He/she may be able to recommend a different kind of shake, or at least prescribe some anti-nausea medication for you. You will need to drink these shakes to some extent after surgery as well, so finding a way to tolerate them is going to be crucial.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted March 6, 2014 Hi there. I admire you for going thru this surgery at 17. Wow, you are brave and I'd give you a pat on the back. I agree with the poster above - you should contact your doc. They might have a suggestion on a different kind of Protein shake or different options for you personally. They should also know you're what you're not tolerating so they can provide a solution for you post op - shakes will probably be a part of your post-op diet as well. Best of luck to you. I look forward to watching your progress!
SydneySweetHeart 21 Posted March 6, 2014 Thanks! I will tell him when I see him Monday. I am very sensitive to aspartame and Splenda so I'm thinking that might be why so if you know of any kind without that stuff in it. I talked to my nutritionist and she didn't know of any. Aileen-March 2014 Sleeved 45 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) I only had to do a 10 day liquid diet. My surgery is March 11th, so I am in day 6. The first 2 days were bad with a headache, hunger, and feeling like I was getting detoxed for sure. At this time, I feel great and did after day 3. Be sure to have at least 60-80 grams of Protein on the liquid diet.< /p> My surgeon also said I could have chicken broth, sugar free popsicles and Jello. So, that helps. If I am hungry, I just make another protien shake. I have lost about 8 lbs.. Probably Water weight. But, at least my surgeon will be glad I did. He said I needed to lose at least 10 lbs. before surgery. Good Luck to you. Edited March 6, 2014 by Aileen Pre-Surgery
McButterpants 2,846 Posted March 6, 2014 You can purchase the ingredients to make your own. The artificial sweetener may be causing the problem. I hope you find the solution on Monday!!!
SydneySweetHeart 21 Posted March 6, 2014 My surgery is on March 13th so I have been on the liquid diet for 7 days. It is easier now than the first three days buy I can't seem to keep it down. But I'm not sure if it's the shake or my Vitamins. So I guess I will just have to talk to my doc about it.

khaske1 14 Posted February 17, 2015 I tried EAS drinks and would gag every time I took a drink so I went to Vitamin Shoppe and got some Protein Powder calls nectar and I tried a few single packets of different flavor and got strawberry kiwi, mix that with a little bit of crystal light and the whey Protein taste diminishes! So good but when you poop it's red lol
