Howdy, All.

The interview yesterday went GREAT. The money sucks - but I really like the people that I met, the job is 10 minutes from my house IN TRAFFIC and it is a no-brainer, non-taxing kind of job. PERFECT for while I am going to school. The gal that interviewed me was down with the concept that I will be going to school and was still into having me work there. She pushed the salary to the limit for the job title and I told her I would think about it.

I will probably take this one - it has everything I need right now - and the pay is about the same as I would make as a first year teacher.... Might as well make my budget adjustments, now...

I have to run - DH and I are finally going out to the Scarborough Faire today. Walking, walking, walking - while we eat 400 things "on a stick".

Love you guys!!!

Thank goodness for finally getting good weather at least something went right this week. I'm actually looking forward to the begining of a new week starting tomorrow :(

What a lousy week!

Sunday - Family stuff going on that I don't believe in or like and it's under my own roof. Really upsetting for DH and myself yet nothing we can do. Both of us are feeling sick and cranking and this didn't help. Lets say lots of childhood crap came back and it was really unpleasant.

Monday - Husband sick, I left work early because I felt sick. Surprise tax bill had to be paid.

Tuesday - Husband still sick, I left work early because felt sick, finally convinced DH to go to doc but of course ours is closed so have to go out of network and pay cash for the visit. At the doc I get the dreaded phone call. "Ma, I've been in an accident but, I'm ok" I hear the sirens in the background and turns out it's down the street from the walk-in clinic I'm at with DH. EMT gets on the phone says he's gotta go to the hospital and I convinced them to stop and get me on their way by. I ran out and look down the road to see fire trucks, ambulances and police cars knowing my son was in that mess! Trip to hopsital, tests later...broken hip but, they can't handle pediatric trama so 45 min ride in ambulance up to Childrens Hospital in Boston. Accident was at 5:30, Ride to Boston at 11:00. Tests at Childrens...CT scans, Contrast scans, more xrays.

Wednesday-1:30 am finally find out all organs are ok, broken/fractured left hip in two places and hand possibly has a fracture that couldn't be pickedup but it's swollen. Whew...now we know he's ok. Try to fall asleep at 3am get up at 5am from docs in room. Physical therapy at 11:30, released from hospital by 3, home by 4-4:30 with pain meds, crutches lots of bruises. Son's work called and the game system he wanted they have on hold...no choice have to pick it up since he doesn't want to push it with his employer and will be out a while so DH picked it up $ later.

Thursday-Go to place my son's car was towed $ cash only, and let them take it as junked. My sinuses are now infected so had to call my doc and plead for a perscription telling her I can't leave my son to come up there. She finally calls one in and forgets yet again that I have the lapband. So I'm now opening capsules, pouring it onto applesauce and taking it that way. DH forgot about a dentist visit, insurance only pays half of crown and dentist wants cash. (Anyone hearing a theme here with the money?)

Friday - Chatting with Crispy and she discovered that my last name on our reservations and tickets is her last name. UGH. She has to get that fixed, airline has to get in touch with her. Noticed the expensive garden ball I bought at a nice garden center for my mother's birthday a few years back was stolen from our front yard garden. Realized that I've now misplaced or lost $40 that was in my pocket. I may of dropped it at the pharmacy...no clue where it is. This kind of stuff really ticks me off because I just can't find it and with the week we've had we can't afford me doing that.

Saturday - Son needs to be registered for SATs cha-Ching, cripe I remember when the test was $24 or so. Front brakes on my car have to be replaced as they aren't working properly. DH has to buy the pads and other stuff to do it. When trying to take the tire off realized the "special" locking lug nuts tool is missing. Searched the entire house, car, toolbox..no where. Drive back out to Honda dealer see if we can get one. Nice man gave me one from his universal set...he'll let it slide this time (Oh boy...besides my son THANKFULLY not being seriously hurt..this is the first GOOD thing all week).

So it's now only 2:18PM Saturday...I only have a few more hours and it will be SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! Yippee...I pray it's a much better week. I'll still have to take Monday out of work because I need to go to my son's school to see if they can help me figure out how he'll get around in school, the meds etc. I have to run to the registry to turn in his plates...still have accident reports to complete, I just can't bring myself up to doing it right now. I peaked at my work emails oh brother!

I'll be back...DH wants me to go for a ride to make sure the brakes work. Ummmm keep your fingers crossed!

Mandy I totally understand where you're coming from with the whole drama that went on here. I missed it to be honest with you, but I know that it was not pretty or nice. The member is Wavydaby. I'm not sure if she's a member here or not. Funny (funnyduddies) may also come to the park to visit. If you'd like to just keep the meeting between you, me and Sherry I TOTALLY get it and would respect that 100%. As long as we get to meet I'm happy!

Congrats Beanie on the great interview!!!! You barely had any time off and now you've already found a new job! Make sure you take a few days for yourself. :)

Oh Sherry - you did really have a crappy week! Don't worry - I'll come and give you a BIG hug tomorrow! xoxoxoxo

Hi to everyone else! :) Gotta start getting ready for my date tonight. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hi, all. It's been a crazy day around here. My friends husband had a massive heart attack. He had to have emergency surgery, they are giving him a 50/50 chance. Please add him to any prayer list that you have access to, his name is Lee Petsche. We had family game night tonight and it turned into Disney planning night, but it was fun. I also took a short road trip (6 hours) with my mom today. She bought a motorized wheelchair on ebay and I went with her to get it. It is really nice.

I got the first round of tests back, they were normal. I am waiting for the next set to come back. I guess it's going to be the hysto, and it's not a tumor. I'll check in tomorrow.

BTW, Kat there is a white scale looking thing up by the post count that you can use to give rep points with. ~Mandy

Hi all. It is scary and sad about my friends hubby. He is a great guy. 4 years ago his appendix ruptured and he almost died. The surgeon that did his angioplasty (I know I spelled that wrong) said he had the kind of heart attack that they call the widow maker. He was lucky, he recognized the symptoms and called 911, he lost consiousness while talking to the dispatcher. They got him to the ER in less that 12 minutes. The atery was 96% blocked. They did the angiogram, angioplasty and put in a stint. He will remain sedated until late today. He has to spend at least 3 days in ICU, then they will reevaluate him. He's looking at 10-12 weeks in a cardiac rehab center. The scary thing is he doesn't smoke drink and he hates fried or greasy foods. He also hate cheese, and mayo. My heart is aching for my friend right now. She would be lost without him. She was numb when I talked to her last night. I told my DH that I am concerned about her. Please keep them both in your prayers. I will check in later. I am not feeling well at all today. My neck and shoulder are hurting again. Last time it did this it took 10 days on muscle relaxers to make it better. I already called and am having my muscle relaxers refilled. I also have the heating pad out and warming up. Be back later. ~Mandy

Good Morning Y'all!

I just visited the rest of the site a while ago, first chance I really had to really look around.

Mandy - Sorry you are feeling bad, Hope you feel better today. My thoughts are with your friend and I will keep him in my prayers.

Beanie - Wow, that is really cool you found something so fast and right near home too!

Eileen - Glad your gal came out of surgery good. That must be a very trying time to go and wait that out. Hugs for being such a special person. Good luck with your new job, knock them dead! You can do it!

Darcy - I don't know why I thought you were missing, I guess I just missed your post or read it and the old brain didn't register it! You know they say the mind is the first thing to go!;)

Sherry - Awwwww, sweetie, things have to get better! I'll send good vibes to you! Hugs!

Dang, I have to go check things out, I took a bread and DH is cutting tree limbs down and I think one just hit the house. Yikes!

Later!

Beanie: That just sucks! I am SO sorry that you lost your job and I am just so amazed with your resilience and getting an interview so quickly. Oh, and yes the 10minute away job sounds like the best. You go girl!:clap2:

Betty: will you adopt me? I just love your home, its just SO pretty.

Darcy: Please fill me in..... I thought you owned a cabin in the hills with out plumbing and beautiful greenery all around. Did you sell that place and are going to buy your sisters cabin?? My senior moments are coming closer together or I just missed something major in your life. Lucy.... you got some 'splaining to do!

Eileen: Hey girl!

Mandy: No mcdonalds toys anymore!?? No, I did not know any of those things you just said! I am speechless!

Sherry; Ask, believe & receive..... your week will be better.

Glad your house survived the pruning project Betty!!! My poor trees looked like they had been butchered when DH and DS pruned them last fall/winter. Now some are in full bloom (in my immediate back yard, I have 2 apple, 2 pear, a cherry, an apricot, a plum and 2 maple trees), others have bloomed and are leafing out. Spring is happening whether the weather wants to commit each day or not!!!

We got the yard finished today---the last of the flower beds are now cleaned out, and he edged everything...now we go on to upkeep! I want to go all out with flowers this year. I have tons of family coming for Mom & Dad's 50th anniversary, and I want to do a big cookout (my DD wants to re do the luau), the night before, so all the family can be together. My back yard is the obvious place to do it---so I would love for it to look spectacular!!! So Rick tells me today he thinks he will build a 2 car garage in the corner of the yard----which means with his schedule, it would be under construction just when I want it to be pretty! I sense an impasse in the future!!!

So Beannie---do you have another interview tomorrow, or have you already made your decision?

Mandy---prayers going up for your friend. My Dad has coronary artery disease. He has the healthiest diet of anyone I know, he walks 5-6 miles a day. Not too bad for a 74 year old man. He has had one mild heart attack following bypass surgery---which he has had twice. They told him with the original bypass surgery it would last 5-10 years. He had to have the second surgery 23 years later! He has had countless angiograms, and angioplasties. He has 5 coronary stents, and 2 renal stents. His arteries, are just terrible, and he does everything he can to keep them healthy. Right now we are waiting to have his carotid arteries done---it is a fine line to find the right time to do them...so we wait. Sometimes it is genetic, that is what killed my Grandad. One of the BIG, GIANT, HUGE reasons I am banded. If I have to fight this the way they did, I did not need the weight to be an added issue. With my weight, my family history, and the fact that I was born with a heart murmur, I would have bet our bottom $$$ that I would be the one to land in the cardiologist office---not Rick!!! He has no family history, and was always a healthy weight, and in overall good health. But his mitral valve just went kaplooey---no warning! It doesn't always make sense. But they CAN and DO do amazing things---they can repair a heart in ways I never realized!!! They actually cut Ricks back down to normal size! I like to tell him now he loves me less than he used to---he used to say he loved me with all his heart. Well now he has less heart----you do the math!!! OK, OK, Ok we will let our resident math student Beannie do the math!!!

Eileenie---hang in there, if we have to wait to see you on the weekends until you get settled, we will wait for ya---you're worth it!

Darcy---how was the cabin? Make any plans????

Patty---I am so glad Mom is on board, and ready to help you along. It will make your recovery easier, both having her there, and knowing she supports the decision. I am beyond happy for you!!!

Sherry---you poor thing you. When it rains it pours, and there is a typhoon going on at your place girl!!! Hoping this week is a HUGE improvement!!!

Chris---how was the date? Did you do anything fun? I used to like off the wall dates. My first "date" with Rick many, many years ago, we went target shooting. I have occasionally wondered if he was very trusting (me with a gun) or very stupid!!! dinner and a movie never really figured into our lives until after we married!

Cindy---how'd you spend your weekend? At the ballpark?

Mr Pat---how goes the healing process?

Ms. Pat---where the heck are you????

Deb---kids all well, keeping you busy now?

If I missed you it was not intentional. My brain is running out of steam!!! Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Kat

Looks like things are on the upswing around here!

Congrats to Patty! I'm happy to here all the good news from your corner!

Kat, you always have the best info for health things, but I guess that's because you've been through so much. Thank you for your willingness to share it all.

Chrispy, how was blind date weekend?

Sherry, hope your son is doing better...how are things with the insurance company?

Eileen, see ya later in the week, and hope your work week isn't too intense!

Darcy, tell us about your weekend in the cabin!

My weekend was just hanging around...since DD is on a school team, there are no weekend games. She has a game today if the weather holds and there is no rain. She's starting to feel the end of the year and summer approaching, so she is making me a list of "things to do" this summer! LOL!

This morning I had a big surprise on my front porch. We have a live trap out there to round up the stray cats that have found us on the underground stray cat railroad that we are apparently a very popular stop on. Well, no cats are dumb enough to go in it, but guess what was? A possum. Yuck, they are ugly. So, animal control (we only have one guy) came out and picked it up...he takes it out to the lake which is nearby, and relocates it. But, there's possum poop on my porch, so I guess I better figure out what to do about that. Yuck. And, we still have our 3 extra stray cats. That was my excitement for today!

Everyone have a great day! Hugs, Cindy

Ok Cindy shared her possum story---so I'll share mine. Many times when we go to TX, we go at the same time my inlaws go so they can do the jobs that require more than 1 or 2 of us to do. The house is an old farm house, 2 bedrooms, one bath. Doors stick, depending on the moisture levels! It is deathly quiet out there, and dark! You cannot sniffle or roll over without it being heard----so anything else is totally out of the question as well!!! One night we had drove into Brownwood to have dinner, and some alone time, so we could just talk to one another (that's the part that kills me!). On the way home, when we had hit our land, we have about 3 miles on the dirt to get back into our place---well where the house is. We stopped on the side of the road, and had the sunroof open, looking out at the stars through the pecan and oak trees. I opened my eyes after a nice long kiss---only to see eyes looking back at me. from up in the tree! Scared the heck outta me!!! My first and only encounter with a possum!!! Huge eyes it seemed like! Well there went the thought of doing anything else out there with all the critters!!! We have issues with raccoons out at the farm house. We are there so seldom, and when we do go, they LOVE to get into the trash, and walk on the cars! I always think that we are disrupting their lives, that they live in the house like the raccoons on the lazy boy commercial!!

Will be back later to check up on everyone.

Kt

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
