Dr. Sanchez, crazy

Recommended Posts

Of course I may not be "in the Loop", but I haven't heard anything crazy or derogatory about Dr. Sanchez.

We just returned from Monterrey where my hubby had the Lap-Band surgery on Aug 8th. I thought the man was wonderful!!! I would recommend him to anyone. The hospital, Santa Engracia Administrator (a U.S. citizen) dropped in to visit us post-op. The corp that owns the hospital has them all over the world and in the US. He said Dr. Sanchez was the top Lap-Band surgeon in the world.

This sounds like gossip mongering to me!

Well, this is the USA and if I feel that someone is not a good DR I can say so. It is my right and I fill that DR s is not a good dr.

Please read the following carefully, the sentiment is very good:

"i like all things but this is how i fill. Please do to others what you want them to do to you. Live for love and not for lust as love will bring you happiness. Love one another as you will like them to love yo "

Isabella,

If you "fill" (I "feel" things), that this Dr. is not a good one, why don't you share your experience and let us know WHY. If you don't back up your claim, it just sounds like a slam.

Look everyone. Dr. Sanchez I am sure is a great Dr. I have heard nothing but great things about him. For me the thing is, once you tell someone that a surgery costs one price and then jack it up another $800.00 or so well that is just wrong. That is what happened to me. I was told that I got an old info packet. When I asked about why through some people who have seen him, it was because he apparently got kicked out of another Mexican City and had to transfer to where he is at now and it is more expensive. I don't know if this is true I only know what I heard.

Then looking at other docs who are in the same hospital with the same if not better qualifications is charging $1000.00 less. And on top of that he calls you personally with out charging you.

For me it was more of a personal choice, not to go with Dr. Sanchez there are rumors that he doesn't use state of the art Lap Bands. I really hope that is not true. I guess they would be cheaper who knows. I wonder if everyone who has had him perform surgery went out and had their Lap Band X-rayed it would disintegrate all negative feedback about Dr. Sanchez because if they had the newer models than everyone who give the negative feed back would have to hush up ya know what I mean.

All I want is what I am paying for. I hope what I have been hearing isn't true.

Saddend,

Nicole

Nicole,

I'm glad you have found a Dr. that you are comfortable with and have confidence in. That is very important.

If you were quoted an exact price and had a date set you have every right to expect that quote to be honored.

My husband specifically requested the Inamed band and that is what he received.

Good Luck with your surgery!!!:)

I know Dr. Sanchez uses 2 difforant bands, The Lap11 and the AMI. They are not bad bands But the AMI "which I have" is not US FDA approved. It dosen't have a Buckle and is a bit wider than the "Lap 11". I have not received my first Fill yet, but I have no pain and feel great. I trully believe he is a Great Doctor. Sorry to hear of your grief and good luck with your wieght loss.

Vera:rolleyes:

For my very first post to this board: I too was banded by Dr. Sanchez on August 5 (me and my sister) and he is a wonderful Dr. My primary care physician went to visit him 2 weekends ago to learn how to do fills and she too was VERY impressed (to say the least!). She and her partner went and she would recommend him to ANYONE. The care you get (5 Dr.'s per surgery-including Dr. Sanchez) and the staff at his clinic and the hospital were fantastic. He always greeted you (Dr.) with a hug and smile and visted for long periods of time. I was always told that he is a pioneer in the field of Lap Band surgeries. I'm glad I went to him and I wouldn't have gone to anyone else. In fact my Dr. would recommend him to anyone who is considering the surgery. She will be doing my fills (and will use the xray method. I can't imagine someone like Dr. Sanchez using a "cheap" band either!

As far as cost or fee changes, I don't know unless it's a communication problem. I don't know. I just know that this is the very first time I have EVER heard anything negative about Dr. Sanchez and am disappointed. I belong to 2 other forums too.

Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I had an AMI(newer model) band sugery done by Dr. Sanchez and just had my first fill with X-ray.... Dr. Lee of Burlingame CA. who performed my fill has had other Dr. Sanchez patients says "Dr. Sanchez does good work". Dr. Lee has filled bands from all over the world.

I'm very Happy with my band.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
