Is it 18 weeks????

I have read that it is a legal right to consultant led treatment within a maximum of eighteen weeks from referral.

What does this mean?

Would treatment mean the assessments, or the operation?

As far as I recall my gp referred me but I already had my surgeons name as he performed my gall bladder op and told me if I was ever considering it to get sent to him.

Within 3 weeks I had a appointment and we went over it all the actual op happened over a year later

wow Sassy

I would think that is unusually lucky for you from what I'm reading since this post.

It appears that bariatric surgery comes under "non urgent" and even when referred and funding agreed, in principle, you can be placed on a waiting list for up to four years. According which health authority you come under ???? like postcode lottery.

So, I'm gonna keep up with the gentle reminders, with the admin staff. And just TRY to go with it....... Keep up the good work....

I was pretty lucky I know I had a history with my surgeon so that helped, I also had other medical problems that I feel helped not high blood pressure or diabetes but I had serve sleep apnoea actually when I had the initial test the doctor told me in 4 years I was in the top 3 for being one of the worst cases he had seen as I stopped breathing within 60 seconds so catch my breath almost 60 seconds later stop breathing and that’s how I went the whole time I was trying to sleep.

I was nearly completely immobile I could stand for 3mins then everything started tightening and shaking and pain would shoot through my body to the point by 5mins I would be in tears with the pain.

And I was being treated for 1 minor cancer issue and in the middle of multiple tests for another.

I also breezed through the mental process I didn’t need session after session I was completely frank and honest I don’t have issues with food I don’t emotionally eat etc so I only had 1 session before I was approve by them to have it.

The board take recommendations from everyone you see and the other health factors so for me having no “mental” issues with food was good having the op improving my other issues like being too big for my own body to support under my joint issues the weight give me and also the cancer the treatment is to flood you with hormones if that fails total hysterectomy wls floods you with whats naturally stored in your body so lucky for me it took care of its self and I never had to have external treatments.

My other health issues would improve or go away with the wls that was a big fat plus on my side it means saving them money in the long run and no I didn’t yet develop high blood pressure or heart problems or diabetes but at 425lbs/30stone it was only really a matter of time then I become a massive drain on the nhs.

I was also moved forward from my original date first it was end of 2012 then suddenly I got a letter saying it was in a couple of weeks don’t know why I was brought forward I didn’t dispute it either lol

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
