Pale colored stool

Recommended Posts

Hi- a year and two months post op gastric bypass. I've lost 180 pounds with 30 left until goal. In the past two days I've noticed the color of my stool is a pale whitish yellow but normal consistency. Today I feel a bit nauseated after I ate but not bad. Just under my right rib cage feels sore off and on. The only thing I've done different is I started prednisone (steroid) for hip inflamation from an old injury but I've never seen or noticed my stool looking like this. Has anyone experienced this or read about this? Is it even a gastric bypass issue?

I am on a daily regime of prednisone and have not noticed any changes in the color. However I would call your doc just to ease your mind.

Gallbladder?? It could be that. I was told greyish stools are a sign of gallbladder disease

I had mine removed 7 years ago- but funny you say that because the pain on my right side feels like a mild gallbladder attack even though it's gone. Very weird- can't get into see the doc til next Wednesday!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
