My uncle, his sister, and my neighbor's mother all used Dr. Geiss when they got banded. All are doing so great that I myself am being banded by him April 7. Hes not the warmest person but is very matter of fact and knows his business. I guess not everyone can have a sense of humor. :)

I used Dr. Geiss….he is very knowledgable when it comes to the band! Experience with him and his office has been great! Answered all of my questions and even took the time to meet with us a 2nd time because we had more….have 2 cousins and 2 friends who also used him and everyone's experience was good!

He was recommended to me by my PCP which is why I originally went there!

Nothing but good things to say!

I saw Dr. Gadaleta, I really liked him but he required A LOT of pre testing and I became very overwhelmed. I also did not find his staff to be very helpful. I have heard that he is an excellent doctor. I am also in Nassau County but I am now having my surgery in Suffolk. I am going with a doctor that my friend used. The experience is so much easier even with the long commute. The surgeions name is Arif Ahmad and he works out of Mather Hospital in Port Jeff. I went to his seminar in mid February, My consultation was March 11th. He does a lot of the pre surgical appointments right in his office. I am doing the nutritionist, Psych., Pulmonologist, bloodwork, and sonogram all in one day. Then the upper endoscopy another day. The only other appointment I had to make myself was a cardiologist. When I went for the consult I was given a surgery date of 4/23. I have been looking into this for years so I feel I am ready to have it done asap.

I used Dr. Angstadt and he is part of the New York Bariatric Group, where Dr. Shawn Garber practices. I don't have any complaints about the doctor as he is a pretty nice fellow with a wealth of knowledge but I can say that practice is very busy. Their reputation for success is very high and I am not sure if it's because they have been on Dr. Oz but they have a pretty big practice. They have a ton of clients and it's growing by the minute. When you go for a consult, prepare your questions beforehnd and bring pen and paper to jot down what you need to know because there's a lot of information you will want to write given the nature of the surgery. The good thing about the practice is that they (the staff) are knowleageable and will get you approved as soon as you finish up all pre-op requirements. The doctors are experts in the field and have had plenty of experience through volumne of patients alone and that's a great thing with this type of surgery. The downside is that the practice so busy, you absolutely must must must do follow-up on your own. You must call to ensure what was supposed to be done by your point of contact there has been followed-up on. Hope this helps

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
