I'm having a little issue with sweets, I constantly crave them and every once in awhile I give in. Before surgery I NEVER was a sweet eater, I was more of a dip and chips kinda gal. Looking for some advice ?!?! I'm almost six months out and down 84 pounds. HW 280 CW 196

I usually only crave sweets during TOM. Otherwise I would much rather have chips or crackers if I was going to "cheat".

Have you tried the Quest Protein bars? I love their chocolate chip cookie dough bar. I heat it in the microwave for about 20 seconds and then eat it. I've heard some people put some whip cream on top, I've never tried that. This is my go to item when I want something sweet. To me, it taste heavenly! Plus, no guilt and I just ate a high number of Protein and Fiber.

I always have a few bars at the house in case a craving hits. I haven't had one in over a week, but some weeks I eat one daily.

Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you. ????

Thanks for responding! Yes I love Quest Bar my favorite is the Cookies n cream, I put it in the refrig before hand. I haven't struggled at all until now, I knew it was coming sooner or later. This morning I had to throw out a box of thin mints because they kept calling my name. I'm not going to lie I did have a "sleeve" of them over the course of a week but I couldn't keep them in the house anymore, I should of never got them, but my niece was selling them. Thank god the other ones in my house I don't like lol !

I agree with the Quest bars. I also have Power Crunch bars which are like sugar wafers we used to eat as a kid. I love the Peanut Butter fudge which tastes like a Nutty Bar! I've always been a sugar craver - I love sweets. So these have been good options for me.

Honestly Quest bars made me crave sugar more. I think their nutrition labels are a bit suspect. There has to be more sugar and carbohydrates in the bars than they claim. Actually at about 6 months post op I also struggled with serious sugar cravings. I find that once you have a taste, it makes it harder to stop, so I simply try my best to abstain. The longer I go without it the less I crave it. Stress plays a role as well. You've done an amazing job on the weight loss front so far. You can and definitely will move past this!

Thank you ! You know I was thinking the same thing about craving more sugar after eating them. Although I guess I would rather eat a quest bar then a whole box of thin mints.....lol. I have upped my Protein to 100 a day and started drinking Water, which the water part is hard for me.

Well, just a suggestion, but you might try the Atkins Induction phase for 2 weeks. That is super low carb (20 g max daily) and will supposedly wipe out your carb cravings. Keep some laxatives on hand, though ;-)

It is basically no fruit, no carby veggies, no starch, and of course no Pasta, rice, bread, tortillas, etc. Just meat, cheese, fish, and Proteins with no carbs (fats are fine).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
