Baconville 578 Posted March 5, 2014 I am Catholic. Every year I have given up something for Lent. I have done French fries, chocolate, and pop over the years. Well, this year I don't eat fried food at all, never eat candy and have not had a sip of pop or caffeine since May. I am exercising five days a week. I don't know what I should do for Lent. Anybody have some creative ideas? It has to be something that is not FOOD related.
iamsoworthit 430 Posted March 5, 2014 I am Catholic too. I am giving up reality tv. I am not a huge tv person but when I do watch it is senseless garbage. I love to read so when I want to relax I'll do that instead.
KittyKat848 93 Posted March 7, 2014 I decided to give up swearing and name-calling. I noticed that I've gotten a bad habit of calling other drivers "idiot" or "dumbass" --- and that I have gotten lax about swearing. So, I figured this is something to change this lent. :-) 1 slowtogo reacted to this
terry1118 1,274 Posted March 8, 2014 I decided to give up swearing and name-calling. I noticed that I've gotten a bad habit of calling other drivers "idiot" or "dumbass" --- and that I have gotten lax about swearing. So, I figured this is something to change this lent. :-) That's a good one. My pastor always said that "You are who you are in your car". When my twins were little, maybe about 3yrs old, I had to slam on my brakes for an animal in the road. One of my girls asked "What is it mommy? A stupid idiot?". And then my other daughter looked at her sister and very seriously told her "No, it was a dumb jerk!" I wasn't swearing but it was time to stop name-calling. :-) 1 KittyKat848 reacted to this
Baconville 578 Posted March 8, 2014 After much sole searching I have decided to give up nothing. Instead I am going to dedicate 15 minutes each day in the evening to quiet, prayerful reflection on my day. 15 minutes with no TV, electronics or other distractions. This is only day three, 15 minutes is a really long time! 2 phil2912 and slowtogo reacted to this
