How many calories a day at 3 months?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm amidst a huge stall(well it broke and I lost a pound and it's stopped again) and it's been about 6 weeks of this! Anywho I have my appt next week with my surgeon but I was wondering if maybe I'm not taking in enough calories! I feel like I can eat more for sure now closer to 2/3c, tho I try to stick to my doctors guidelines of 1/2 c. But I'm curious what your calorie intake is like...I asked at my two month and the nut said 650-800 at that point. I average about 750/day. I'm scared to up it and it not change then me be used to more food ;) you know how that slippery slope goes! I will go by my docs recommendations but in the meantime just looking to get an idea of where the "average" person is at right now!

I am 3 months out and try to stick around 800 as well and I feel like I have been in a stall more often than not. I have an appointment coming up too, so we'll see.

I just checked my records from MFP and I was 650-750 at 3 months, averaging around 700 a day.

As to the volume of food, heck, I still can only get a half cup down at a meal. Have you moved to firmer foods yet? Poultry, fish, pork will fill you up (beef may be too much for now unless ground).

Cottage cheese and other soft foods, that you could probably eat a lot of. Maybe time to move off of the softer foods if your doc OK's it?

I am eating more than the others are. I have about 1000 calories most days and 3-4 days a week I work off than that in the gym.

I actually do have a little more on workout days, too.

At 3 months, I was at about 800 calories a day. Today, in my 5th month, I target 900 calories. Some days I go over. Some days in net less with exercise.

I am also stalled....a lot.

I will hit three months soon, and just had a nutrition appointment last week. She told me to stay around 800 until I can significantly increase my activity level. I just broke through a stall when I decided to hold back on enjoying so much cheese.

I was released to all food at 8 weeks and have been eating all meats even had steak on that first day! The only thing that gives me issues is shredded beef from a Mexican restaurant no matter how long I chewed it wouldn't digest!! .

I may try to kick the cheese :/ tho it's gonna be hard! I haven't started exercising at the gym yet bc I had/have an enlarged spleen so they won't release me yet. But I'm active with two small boys and walk when i can. I seem to be right in the middle or only slightly lower than most....

I'm almost at 3 months (3/12) and currently at about 800 / day w/ <50 g of carbs. I met with my nutritionist and she told me I should up my carbs and calories a bit. I exercise a lot, so that might be part of it. Most days I am burning an extra 600 calories.

I am hesitant to up my calories also, so plan on doing it very slowly. I have been doing ~850 for the past couple of days (except yesterday b/c I got sick). I'm thinking every month or 10 lbs or so I will up my calories by about 50. I want to lose 40-50 more lbs, so every 10 lbs would get me just over 1000 / day which would be a good way to transition into maintenance (I think).

400-600 was the range of my average around that time. Some days when I don't feel particularly hungry, I'm probably around 800 calories even this far out.

If u r exercising a lot ..increase your intake by 100 calories and see what it does to your body, how is your salt intake. Sometimes we need to be ok with stalls. Try to be happy with your weight loss...keep positive.. More will come. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
