Hi all. Just found this site and am 11 days post op. Feeling ok now ...the only bit I felt pain is we're my port is but that is a lot better today....just can't wait to have something other than "fluids" though.

Any advice for a newbie would be gratefully accepted.

The fluids part is the worst. Try to find things to do to keep yourself occupied so you wont think about it.

I didn't go through the pain process but I felt like I had the worst hangover for a week due to so much anesthesia pumped into my body. I felt more trauma from anesthesia than from the surgery itself. And, I didn't take any of the oxycodone they gave me.

Time and lots of fluids help it to go away.

Are you on Clear liquids only or can you have shakes? When can you start having Soups like Tomato, squash, pureed? One of my fav go to was egg drop Soup. It's mostly just broth with some egg blended in while boiling. Goes down real easy and is quite filling.

Hi there, congratulations both of you! I am four months out tomorrow and so happy with my decision. I can barely remember the recovery process but I know how happy I was to be on the other side of the long-anticipated surgery. My only advice is to be patient and know that it's all happening even when it may feel like there's a stall. Sometimes people have an immediate return of appetite and for others it takes a while to come back -- some people have Fluid in their bands at placement and some do not -- for most people it is a process to reach the right fill to have the appetite dimmed. Just know that it's all good. I'm really glad I did lots of walking. It helped me so much and now I am a regular exerciser and I'm pretty sure that is aiding in the weight loss. Don't forget to pat yourself on the back, too, for this big decision to reclaim your life, to welcome a healthy happy future. It's all beginning now. Best wishes!

Thank you for that, I have 4mls added during the op and have my date to go to see them again at the end of March . I have had weetabix this morning with no problems and going back to work Monday so life is on the move. I have lost 1st 10lbs (24lbs) in 4 weeks (2wks pro op diet) and can see the difference already

. Here's to the future

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
