Quest bars are Poo Bombs

Recommended Posts

That got your attention!

I just wanted to call out to everyone something that I missed. I read a post on here that said the Cookies and cream Quest bars are delicious and indeed theyre tasty. But when I started using them, my uh bathroom experiences became less enjoyable, to put it mildly.

I take Fiber chewies and try to keep my dietary fiber up naturally as well. As I imagine many of you do. Well these bars clock in at over 20g of dietary fiber! Hence why I call them poo bombs. If you use them in your daily diet, you may want to scale back other fiber supplementation. Otherwise, I recommend Miralax powder!

Personally, I would love a poo bomb right now. My ammo. is dangerously low and I fear a blocked cannon. And I've been eating Quest bars regularly. :(

This is why I stay away from Protein Bars now. Not just Quest.< /p>

LOL well most Protein bars have that warning on them not to consume too many lol I think it's the sweetener they put in them. I gave up on fiber bars because I was being all nice trying Metamucil bars and they swelled and got stuck for hours. Ugh never again.

just bought some Cookies n cream Quest bars today.. and yes they will cause some gas and Constipation if eaten too much. I use them as a quick pick me up if I am on the run. They are a good Protein source and will keep me from reaching for something bad . I really like the chocolate chunks

As someone who struggles with Constipation, this is an upside (for me) to the Quest bars. I limit myself to maybe 2 a week because they remind me too much of candy.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
