Hi everyone! I am officially on the other side! Right now I only have incision pain (like little pinches) and a sore throat. I updated my blog with the surgery day's events if you are interested in reading about it. http://banderland.weebly.com/1/post/2014/03/surgery-day.html

I wish the best of luck to all who are getting banded soon!

Congratulations. Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated. If you've been reading on here and I'm sure you have, I'm sure you've discovered that the 1st month is a healing time and that you may feel restriction right now but that is due to the swelling and the real restriction will begin with the fills. Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing.

What a great blog post! I hope people getting ready for surgery will read it as to me it is stress-relieving to have such a thorough description. You have a beautiful smile! Good luck with your recovery. You sound very prepared and so ready for everything that is ahead. I was banded four months ago tomorrow and I am so happy. Feeling very healthy in my head and in my body -- not obsessing over food and eating, plus I've been able to increase my exercise a lot. That is a huge surprise to me -- has not come naturally in the past, that's for sure. I am feeling "whole." Oh, and hey, good call on giving your son his cell phone back -- what a sweet text to receive!

Thank you so much! I can't wait to feel "whole". I just feel "poked" right now.

Thank you for the reminder on fluids. I am making an asserted effort to sip lots of Water. I'm not hungry now, but I know I need to drink lots anyway.

Hey we got banded on the same day!! I am also feeling a bit of a soar throat but it was advised that it may happen due to the breathing tube.

Yes I believe it is from the breathing tube. Congrats on your surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
