SliminDownThick 69 Posted March 4, 2014 Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I have decided on the sleeve. My insurance approves it easily no medically supervised diet. I do have to pass a psych exam, which I do this Thursday. Hopefully all goes well. I'm excited reading all these great stories of everyone's journeys. I am however feeling a little worried. What happens if I fail. This is my biggest fear.
JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted March 4, 2014 Congratulations on your decision to move forward, and welcome to the forum! I can't speak to everyone's psych exam, but mine was very easy and not nearly as scary as I was worried it would be. I answered a few pages of questions and then spoke to the doctor for a little bit. He was looking for what my expectations were, and see if i was prepared to make the long term changes for success. He also focused on if I had a tendency toward addiction. Some people who have food addictions, turn to to other things .. alcohol or drugs, when food can't be consumed in the quantities as before. I went in thinking that if a medical professional felt I wasn't ready, then maybe I wasn't. Thankfully that was not the case, I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck!!! SliminDownThick 69 Posted March 4, 2014 Thanks for your input. I am a little worried about the exam. But I think I have the right idea. I don't expect a miracle just a little assistance. 1 JerseyGirl68 reacted to this
dharriott 37 Posted March 4, 2014 Slimin... You hit the nail right on the head... This surgery is not an instant fix... But a tool to assist in getting you to a healthier you. That's what the Psych wants to hear. Mine asked why is I feel I need the surgery.. I straight up told him.. My father died of heart disease, my mother died because of complications with high blood pressure and simply put.. I want to be around for my children. It's not as intimidating as people think.. Just needs to know if you are being rational about it all. 1 JerseyGirl68 reacted to this
