Incredible shrinking legs

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 2/18. I am losing weight but I feel it is all in my legs. I think I have lost two pant sizes in my legs but my stomach is still the same size. I can barely button my pre surgery jeans but they are sagging in the butt and legs. I have to keep the top button unbuttoned. Is this normal? Is my stomach still bloated?

Yes, you may still be bloated. I had a similar loss pattern to you. (Are you an apple-shape too?) I lost weight in my face, neck, shoulders and arms at first. My gut seemed to stay the same. It is definitely smaller now, but it took a while for my pants size to drop.

Mine went:

Chest - Legs - Arms - Face - Chest - Legs - Hips - Belly - Ad infinitum

Belly appears to be the last thing shrinking. I'm all good with that if it catches up with the rest of me!

My stomach was swollen and sore post op for more than a month. I didn't even wear pants around the house. Just a gown and robe. I did wear stretchy pants outside ;-)

Jujube, I was sleeved on Feb. 10th and my weight loss has all been from the waist up. I can't tell that I've lost anything in my behind or legs. I'm ready to quit losing in the chest... omg, I hope I'm left with something there!!! I've just recently started exercising so maybe the bottom half of my body will start the weight loss process too. Good luck.

I was sleeved 2/3 and have noticed my thighs and but are def losing the most weight/ inches! Hopefully it will all catch up and even out! Also, my abdomen still feels bloated and I'm a month out, not as much as before, but not soft and squishy like before lol.

Picture an Apple on toothpicks. That's how I feel like I look. This stomach of mine is like steele on the outside and mush on the inside!

Yeah I'd agree you may still be bloated/swollen. Your body will hold Fluid the fluid as its way of healing. Just give it time. Congrats on your success thus far :) enjoy the journey.

I went legs boobs face back butt legs belly back face legs face belly face- not really sure where the loses are going from now as I haven’t noticed whats smaller so maybe a little all over maybe more belly I don’t know lol
I was a major apple allllllllllll belly boobs back smaller legs only towards the end did I have a bit of a butt I think I had very little place to keep gaining so my thighs and butt seemed to gain more towards the end for me.
It’s a little funny because if your legs are not very big to begin with suddenly the weight going form them makes the upper body look so much bigger!
Kind of like a fun house mirror effect!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
