I am going crazy! I was sleeved on February 26. I am doing everything I am supposed to do. Why in the world am I so hungry? NO - it's not mental hunger as I know the difference. Anyone else experience this?

Are you taking an acid reducer? Prilosec, Protonix or Nexium? Excess acid can feel like hunger.....

You're not alone. I was bloody starving - and still am.

I eat, exactly 2-2.5 hours later, I could chew the ****** ****** of a scabby cat.

Some people have this - some people don't. Thems the breaks.

Try and sip more Protein shakes to ease the deficit.

Don't lose the plot just yet. If you're anything like me, you're going to feel weak for a good few weeks until you hit solids. Then, the game changes entirely. You can eat real food, with real calories and real nutrition and you WILL feel much much better. When this happens, you can eat your healthy dense Protein and feel good and satiated. In fact, when you first try it out it will sit like a brick and then you'll be wondering 'oh crap, so that's what they did to my stomach!'

Try not to focus on it right now. You're hungry, malnourished, with hormones raging. Consequently and in these next four weeks you will feel intense highs and intense lows.

Okay, so the dice didn't fall in the 'no hunger' camp. However, you won the lottery on the small stomach front.

It will work for you. Have a bit of patience and a little bit of faith. ;)

All the best

Thank you Madam! How encouraging. I forget about the whole hormone thing. I will settle down and be patient!

I had to change my reflux medication from protonix to Dexilant. That helped me a lot. Another thing I figured out early on was my thirst masqueraded as hunger, and in fact, it still does. You are quite early post -op, so you are probably both hungry and thirsty. Give yourself more time. Good luck!

Oh honey I felt HUNGRY hungry too. Your body is starving! It's ok. Sip Protein shakes if you can, and try some sugar free Jello. I'd be all RAWR IMMA EAT EVERYTHING and I couldn't finish ONE Jello cup. It helped me feel better that I really wasn't gonna overeat beyond my sleeve.

When you start foods you'll feel better!!

Aw, thank you! That's exactly how I feel! I've had a little anxiety about thinking it might not ever go away... Lol. One hour at a time.

I figure we didn't get to the point of needing surgery by having a delicate tummy... ;) I started soft foods at 12 days instead of waiting for my 2-week appt and being "okayed" - I was HUNGRY, damn it. And I ate really wet soupy stewed chicken, which was definitely a "soft food". Tolerated it well. And my surgeon was like "cool then go for it."

I still have a lot of head-hunger, I suspect it'll never really go away.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
