A nibble here and a nibble there...

Recommended Posts

Help!!! I can not stop nibbling and grazing. Surgery was in October and I have done well. The only problem is this past month I can not stop putting food in my mouth. This is driving me nuts. I eat crackers, fruit, Protein Bars, goldfish, anything and almost everything.

I have stayed away from candy, cakes and any other tasty candy type things.

I really can not tell if I am hungry or just want to eat because of what other reasons.

Any suggestions!?!? Do I need more fluids, more Protein, more activity, adjust Vitamins?

I don't want the old me back so please help.

Just my humble suggestion: Cut back on your carb intake, stay away from foods with a high GI, and try to fill up on foods with Protein in them. Are you mistaking head hunger for real hunger?

I don't know about you but I have always been carb sensitive. If I eat simple carbs it triggers cravings for more carbs. The more I eat the more I want. It's good advice to eat less carbs, more Protein. When you do eat carbs make sure it's healthier ones with whole grains, high Fiber, some protein, little or no sugar. My doc says nothing made w/white flour or enriched wheat flour (if it's enriched it means it might as well be white). Also no white potato (sweet potato is better), no white bread, no white Pasta (wheat is good), and no white rice. I can't eat white rice or any product that has rice flour anyway. My doctor said nothing white has any real health benefit. :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
