Man oh man, I thought I was smarter and sneakier than this band!

I'm NOT!

I am just getting from pureed food to soft foods--doing well, not eating much--behaving, until the other day, took son to Burger king. At a fry. No problem. He didn't finish his skinny little cheese burger, so I chewed and chewed and then I almost died on the drive home--had to pull over and barf in front of my five year old. He was freaked, i was afraid I did something terrible.

I am toeing the line for sure now, but do you think I goofed myself up?

So mad. Kicks self.

Kimberly

Its so important as hard as it is to follow your doctor's post op instructions. You were given those instructions for a reason and the reason is you are still healing and you do not want to eat anything that is hard to digest that will make your stomach have to work harder. the band needs to set in place and the stiches need to heal and the swelling needs to go down. throwing up is not a good idea when you are still healing. It is wise to follow the instructions from hear on out to preven damge to your band in the healing stage..I know its hard but it is all worth it in the long run...Good Luck to you & Hang in there

Please.....Don't do that again!!!

Take it easy. Soft white breads/buns, Pasta and rice can be your worst enemy. Michelle has good advice.

Hopefully, it was just a "wake up" call. Pretty scary, isn't it? Please take it easy and try to behave yourself. I know it's hard, but you can do it. If you really get a yearn for hamburgers, take the meat only and puree it (just to be on the safe side).

The band caught you red handed. I had to learn my lesson the hard way too. Please, please please follow doctors orders. You won't be sorry.

well, I called my doc and the nurse said not to worry about this too much--but that I had better have learned my lesson!

Yes! Yes!

Crawling away to concentrate on behaving myself.........

Hey Kimberlilly, don't beat yourself up. Almost everyone falters occasionally on the journey. (Hope that doesn't sound too pretentious and pseudo-Buddha.) If you're craving potatoes during the mushy stage, try whipped or mashed. A lot of the instant varieties are pretty good, and you can buy single servings in disposable cups that you just fill with boiling Water. I haven't tried to dip 'em in ketchup yet. . .

What I have learned it that eating too much/too fast or just the plain wrong thing, like a hamburger bun, will strech your pouch, this is called dilitation. This can open you up to the most painful heartburn/reflux ever. The only way I got better was to have the band emptied and then after a few weeks refill it. I have had my band for nearly 2 years and I'm finally figuring it out.

Like the doc says lesson learned. I hope you have more control than I and don't have to do it again and again and again...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
