Columba 4 Posted March 3, 2014 Was scheduled for LBS last Thursday. After the prep I arrived at the hospital, and was told the DR was sick . My surgery is rescheduled for Wed with prep tomorrow . Howling do most people have to take off from work post surgery. I have an office job sitting at a computer
Columba 4 Posted March 3, 2014 How much time do you need off work post surgery with the lap band? I have an office job at a computer. 1 kll724 reacted to this
Jim1967 3,569 Posted March 3, 2014 I also have a sit down computer job. Fatigue is the major factor. I could've gone back to work by day 3 or 4 but I had the week scheduled off. I also have the ability of working from home. Good luck on your upcoming surgery! 1 kll724 reacted to this
Columba 4 Posted March 3, 2014 I guess I would need a minimum of three post surgery days before I return to work. I am unfortunately not able to work from home
Leepers 1,195 Posted March 3, 2014 Is it paid time off? Then I would ask for at least a week. I took two, but I have a physical job. If you're not being paid and want to get back, then Monday would probably be ok. 1 kll724 reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted March 3, 2014 I found sitting uncomfortable after surgeries. Your stomach is still sore, but as long as you can get up stand and walk around bit, you might be able to go back to work after a long weekend. But, please check with your medical team.Karen
Jack 855 Posted March 3, 2014 This is a personal variable that is unpredictable from the other side of a keyboard. My own recovery was fine; by Day 3 postOp I was gingerly carrying a couple pieces of fire wood. I did a few 1/2 day light duty things at the office. It's nice to pamper yourself & not feel too hurried to return. I went out on an extended road trip alone by about the second week IIRC. Learning how to and what to eat, how to keep hydrated, etc, takes a LOT of research. Use some of your postOp time hunting up those issues.\\ Cheers on your Journey. Luka Beth 78 Posted March 4, 2014 My surgeon had me out for 17 days post op and I sit at a computer all day.... But it was more a matter of scheduling the follow up. However he requires 2 weeks... And my employer wouldn't let me come back until I was released by the surgeon... So it was a catch 22.
Kandy12 14 Posted March 4, 2014 Well I had surgery last Wednesday, I planned on going back today. I wasn't quite up to it, it's more tht hernia repair then then the band. I had my doctor send a note releasing me for tomorrow. So we'll see how that goes. I have a sit down job as well. Hope all goes well for you.
