hopeful2 be slim 121 Posted March 3, 2014 I am having severe arthritis and I am 6 weeks post op. I was wondering how people who have major problems are managing without NSAIDS. Can we take a crushed tablet mixed in food or something?
SlowlybutSurely 73 Posted March 3, 2014 It's probably best not to since they can cause stomach issues. Ask your pharmacist to recommend something else.
mythbuster1304 10 Posted March 3, 2014 Ask your doctor. My doc actually had me take a liquid Tylenol and liquid Advil cocktail right after surgery. I took both for about a week after surgery, but I didn't really ask about long term usage. It really helped keep me off the narcotic pain meds as I only took 2 oxy the day after surgery and just took the over the counter meds after that. Ask your doc. 2 Miss Mac and elfnow reacted to this
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted March 3, 2014 Mythbuster is on to something with the Tylenol. My gastoenterologist has fobidden me from taking ANSAIDS ever again because of the damage it did to my stomach, so I am not about to torture my new tummy. I just keep Tylenol on hand for bad days. Catherine707 253 Posted March 3, 2014 Most bariatric surgeons seem to forbid the use of Advil and other NSAID generation 1 drugs. My doctor allowed me to take Celebrex with Prilosec to control chronic pain The NSAID generation 2 drugs are easier on the stomach. The best thing is for you to discuss this with your surgeon.
