My surgeon told me not until after 3 months out. So, I waited. I had a glass last Friday, finished it, and poured another. Then, I did something I've never done before - I poured it out. I had a few sips but then my mind said, OK, I'm done. I swear to you that has never happened to me before. I was like the other responder who said she used to be able to have a bottle of wine and it wouldn't affect her at all. I wasn't drunk but I could certainly feel it. I was just finished. Didn't want any more. I think the bottom line is that everyone is different. If you want a drink, or a glass of wine, etc., have one. See what it does. Just be careful because, like everyone else has said, it's empty calories. :)

I was sleeved 8/6/13, I wanted a cocktail or glass of wine but was afraid of calories & sugar over load. I tried Skinny Girl cocktails by Bethany Frankle. Google it! She has a handful of wines & liquor. Some of them have lower alcohol content then normal cocktails but the taste great!

I was about 3 months out before I drank. I went out with a friend and had a couple cosmos & realized quickly that liquor is no longer my friend! I can handle the skinny girl mixers & wine only. But real deal vodka is no good for me it floored me & made me feel horrible. I agree with the other posters try at home first.

I used to be a beer drinker but have not had carbonation yet. I was going to wait until year out before I have a beer.

I would wait at least 3 months until you are well healed, that's just my opinion for playing it safe.

I have a glass of wine or a cocktail once a week. More than that at a time is too much for me now, gets me wasted. For cocktails I tend to go for low carb or sugar free versions like whiskey and Water or margaritas made with sugar free syrups (Monin sugar free triple sec syrup) and lime juice or bloody marys. I still can't do the carbonation in beer, but beer has lots of carbs.

Good drink while losing weight if you are determined to drink: 1 oz Jack Daniels and a couple of oz of Water over ice = 60 calories and 0 carbs.

Stay away from these (high calories): fruit juice cocktails (daquiris, mai-tais, screwdrivers, pina coladas), regular margaritas, drinks containing sweet liqueurs (Kahlua, Baileys, etc.)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
