I think it's completely normal to have doubts. It's major surgery. I am a week away from my surgery and I'm not allowing doubt to come in anymore- I've made my decision and I'm sticking to it. I just keep praying for peace and protection- that's what will get me through. Good luck!!!!

I understand what you are going through, I have less than 36 hrs until surgery. Although I don't have doubts, I have true concerns. I have 3 young boys and a fantastic husband that I need to get back to, healthy. I'm having 'mommy guilt' about being away from home for 3 days and concerned that the worse could happen and well, I'm sure you know what that is....but it is a true concern. What I keep telling myself is that I am doing this not only for myself but for all my boys, so that I can be a healthier mommy/wife for them and be around a long, long time. This surgery is going to be a good thing, a great thing! I get butterflies a lot when I think about it....like right now  It's allllll going to be good, we got this!!!!

I don't have "doubts" exactly...I know I need this. However, my surgery is now less than 48 hours away and I'm now getting scared. Not for me really, but the "what if's" are driving me crazy. My kids are 8 and 10 and the slightest possibility of leaving them motherless makes me shake with fear. But I'm focusing on the positive...I'm going to be fine...and I will be a better, healthier mom. Doubts are normal. This is surgery and it's a big deal, but you will be just fine!

I can totally relate. I am having doubts because of all of the above things. I have 4 young children and an awesome husband, I also have never had any type of surgery that they have completely put me out for which makes me nervous. But at the same time I need to be healthy so I can be around for my family. I have tried it on my own but seem to just give up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
