Zoumommy 61 Posted March 3, 2014 I start counseling tomorrow and I'm excited and nervous about it. Just curious if anyone else sought out counseling post sleeve? If so, did you find it helpful?
totaloser 75 Posted March 3, 2014 I start counseling tomorrow and I'm excited and nervous about it. Just curious if anyone else sought out counseling post sleeve? If so, did you find it helpful? Yes. In fact I just started. I find it very helpful. Dealing with the emotional part of this has been a challenge. Counseling is helping me to do just that. 2 Zoumommy and CoffeeGrinDR reacted to this
Zoumommy 61 Posted March 3, 2014 Yes. In fact I just started. I find it very helpful. Dealing with the emotional part of this has been a challenge. Counseling is helping me to do just that. Thank you for your honesty. The emotional part is exactly why I am going to counseling. I want to be successful with the sleeve and I know I gave some body image issues to deal with 2 totaloser and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Carlotta1 401 Posted March 3, 2014 Yes I have started with a counselor pre and post surgery. I also see a nutritionist once a month.. It gives me a place to hash out emotional eating .. My nut will help me with my distorted " diet " ..like all or nothing. My current perception about nutrition, etc. It is the emotional eating that got me obese. Of course, the sleeve is a tool to help me lose the weight and KEEP it off, as long as I stick to sensible eating and exercising. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted March 3, 2014 counseling post sleeve? Zoumommy when I started seeing a therapist about 5 years ago i felt a little weird/ashamed i mentioned those feelings to my therapist and she said with a smile.... 1/2 the world sees a therapist..........the other 1/2 SHOULD!!!!! ever since that i didn't feel self-conscious about it!!!! being overweight was frequently in our conversations it was helpful to me talking about many different things going on with my life now at 2+ years post op, my wonderful "lady" has moved to another state for now i haven't seeked a different therapist............. of course i feel i should seek out help after talking to all you guys but i think they (therapists) can/are very helpful especially post op (even if its only for awhile ) understand your nervousness but "let lose" talk about surgery, and other issues that go along with it (other stuff too) good luck kathy
