I feel pretty good but am a little hungry so I just had a fudge pop. I feel a lot better having something in my tummy rather than Water and juice. Has anyone else moved onto the yogurt, pudding Etc type foods before day 10? I know everyone's docs have different rules and I don't intend on moving into the mushy stage till day 14 but anyone able to do the yogurt, pudding etc this early on without incident?

Not sure, I think most of us was too scared to move on further before time.

My surgeon's diet guidelines said I could move on to pureed/blended foods one week post-op and I was sooooo ready for that stage I started the night before I was technically supposed to lol I ate slowly and felt full after only 3oz of pudding. As long as you listen to your body and stop when you should, you'll be good to go. I've eaten all kinds of mushy foods since I started this stage without any bad incidents (i.e.- throwing up). I don't feel like I have any restriction unless I eat too fast. Even then all that happens is I get indigestion. I know it's important to follow the lap band "rules" though so I only eat my allotted amount per meal, even if I'm still hungry. And I'm sticking to approved foods. It's hard sometimes, especially when I'm stomach growling hungry, but I do have too much of a fear of my band slipping to break the rules! Hahaha :) best of luck to you!

I was banded a week ago! I had a headache for a week before surgery so the liquid diet was killing me! So I did Lipton noodle Soup (half cup) with 3-4 crushed saltines and let them get soggy! Eat it slowly in very tiny bites! Works wonders plus I added apple juice to my liquids! The crackers with the soup has been my life saver!!!! Only do half a cup with 3-4 crushed saltines for one meal! Today I was able to do two soup meals with crushed saltines and I am full! I didn't try to add another bite! My body knew so I stopped and had a sip of juice then walked around with the dog!

We all have different diet plans. For instance, I have been allowed to eat anything that can fit through a straw since 24 hours after surgery. That includes yogurt, oatmeal, and soggy Cereal. You should ask your doctor if you are allowed to move phases early (or when you feel you are ready).

I'm going to quote the tag line some one has attached to their posts, "Compliant Banders are successful Banders." Following your doctor's plan is the best possible option -- be careful of looking for workarounds as it is very possible to eat around your band later. You have made this decision to choose your healthy future -- congratulations! Any minor sacrifices are nothing compared to what it's going to feel like to lose the weight and regain your health.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
