pulled something in left side incision

Recommended Posts

I had the same thing happen to me. I felt great and was doing too much- I pulled something(ripped?) too. It hurt 10x worse than it did after surgery. It burned/ stung/ and felt like I really messed something up. After that it hurt for 3-4 days and started improving. After that I was super careful, bending over made it hurt, so I quit bending over for awhile. I hope it gets better soon- I know it hurts like hell. If it doesn't greatly improve in a couple of days- call your Dr. again, it shouldn't last more then a couple of days. Hope it gets better soon!!!!

I'm feeling much better tonight. I've pretty much rested all day, getting up to only use the bathroom, get something to drink/eat, and to just get up because laying down is boring. Ha. Either the pain meds & ibuprofen are working their magic, or I'm actually starting to heal again. It's nice to not get up to pee and not cry like a baby.

I have a follow up appt on Tuesday AM, and I'll be sure to bring it up. But as of now, I feel MUCH better, thank god. Cause I was pretty miserable. Now I just hope it stays this way as I have class tomorrow and really can't miss it.

Thanks for the replies and concern. <3 If I was still in the same amount of pain as I was in last night, I'd go to the ER. The pain last night was some of the worst pain I've had in my entire life. Tearing my ACL wasn't even as bad!

I'm also just sick if being on pain medication. I'm tired of feeling so doped up and sleeping on and off all day. You can only enjoy that for so long. Haha.

I did the same thing. I rolled too far over on my side about a month out. It pulled something internal. There was even a small swelling around the incision area. Unfortunately it lasted for about a month. I did pain meds, heat, and basically relaxing as much as possible.

Thankfully after pretty much laying on my couch ALL weekend, I'm feeling MUCH better. Very little pain, and am once again weaning myself off the pain meds I was able to got to all my classes today with no pain! I was so worried when I made this thread, that the pain was going to last. But I did take ibuprofen, and I asked about that at my 2 week post op appt with his nurse, and she said while it's not good to take for a while, in this case it was for inflammation, and it's okay to take for a short time. I really think ibuprofen along with the lortab is why I'm feeling so much better already.

Now if only I could have a good poop. I took some milk of magnesia and while I had a small BM, I know there's more in there. Lolz

Ps I wouldn't wish the pain I had this weekend on my worst enemy. It hurt worse than when I tore my acl! Be careful friends! :)

I had a follow up today. And I asked my surgeon about a possible pulled muscle. She agreed I must have move wrong to still be in this much pain a month out. She prescribed me muscle relaxer to hopefully calm down the muscle and hopefully take away some of the inflammation.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
